Routines keep us alive, they’re the bread and butter of our parenting experience. Routines look like setting the alarm, doing X/Y/Z before school starts, chore charts, curfews, and laundry folding. They’re fine, they’re important - but they’re not exactly ‘sexy.’ Rituals keep us connected, they turn the bread and butter of repeated tasks into french toast. Routines are repeated behaviors that are focused on connection, rather than utility. Going to bed at 8 is a routine - singing a song or repeating an affirmation is a ritual. Chores are routines - post chore dance parties are rituals. Dinner is routine, tea parties are rituals. Try adding some rituals that bring connection and play to your kids!
What a great idea✅😜

Greatness ✅🎉
We just had to share this testimony from one of our Healing Home participants! She shares about the power of the program AND some practical tools her family gained!
In the fall of 2023 our family had the pleasure of participating in The Healing Homes program with The Pearl Project. After recently adopting three kids, we wanted every resource we could get our hands on!
What we learned has served us so well! Just a few of the big takeaways that we implement regularly are:
1. Connection is at the heart of building trust with our children.
2. High nurture without the support of structure impedes growth. High structure without nurture impedes trust.
3. Our kids need their physiological needs met! They are more likely to “flip their lids” when they are tired, thirsty, and/or hungry. Protein with every meal and snack. Water!
4. Our attachment styles impact our relationships. Personal growth will help us promote healthy attachment with our children.
5. Using simple scripts can help correct behaviors and teach respect without fear or shaming.
In addition to all we learned we were blessed by the community support. This adoption journey is hard and it feels invaluable to have a community that’s walking this narrow road alongside us! We thank God for calling us to this big work and providing us with tangible help through The Healing Homes Program!
