Think about most of what you do in a day. Hunched over at your desk, looking at your phone, cutting vegetables, reading something. We’re almost always hunched over. If we don’t do anything about it, overtime this position gets harder and harder to reverse. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Judy came to me to get back the balance and stability she had slowly lost over time, and to address discomfort she was having in her upper and lower back. You can see on the left performing a bent over row and the problematic posture. On the right, I have her perform a deadlift paired with a farmers carry to really emphasis the stabilization of her shoulders and back muscles. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We’ve made huge strides in our time together, but it all comes down to consistency. Judy really does her mobility homework and comes to our sessions with progress week after week! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Give Judy a 👏👏👏

Hump Day Transformation, college athlete style! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Explosive movements like jumping are an essential component to athletic training. Jumping seems simple, right? It is, but if you do it wrong, you could land wrong and risk injury, or put limits on the power you can get out of the movement. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you really dissect this explosive movement, it’s hinge dominant. In Sarah’s preparation for Widener Lacrosse, we paired a lot of this explosive work with its strength specific component (the deadlift). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Over 6 weeks, we built a solid foundation in both speed and strength for Sarah to take into her training season at @widenerwlacrosse ! I can’t take all the credit! More on that in a post to come ;) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Good luck, Sarah! @hobiehorner and I will be cheering you on!

When Tiffany and I first started working together, I knew she had an athletic background. Her initial goals were to continue making progress and strides in her strength while figuring out how to take it down a notch, have a healthy relationship with exercise and prevent injury. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We focused on a few key elements of core control and breath work. But our biggest focus has been learning how to slow it down, control the quality of the movement, and work on range of motion, all while preventing injury. This included so much tempo work, and the mindset shift takes some major dedication! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It takes a lot to switch gears from burn burn burn and go as hard as you can, to something more slow and controlled. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ She’s reached a PR in her Squat, Deadlift, and Hipthrust, all the while feeling more balanced in life and less guilty about taking rest days!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ She just had her 39th birthday last week!! We’ve got so much growing to do together, Tiffany! I am so proud of you for putting yourself first and working as hard as you do! @chasethesun31
