Rackliffe House is a restored 18th-century coastal plantation house overlooking Sinepuxent Bay. The house is located at 11700 Tom Patton Lane, Berlin, Maryland, 21811, within walking distance of the Assateague Island Visitor Center at Assateague State Park, Maryland. Built of Flemish bond brick with random glazed headers, the house would have been "one of the most impressive gentry dwellings in the region" in the 18th century. The plantation house is one of a small number of remaining tidewater dwellings from colonial times, and may be the only one of its kind and vintage in the Mid-Atlantic region that is open to the public.

In its time, Rackliffe House witnessed marauding Spanish galleons, Barbary pirate ships, and English men-of-war. The house has stood through the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, and the Civil War. Today, thanks to restoration efforts of the Rackliffe House Trust and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, the historic Rackliffe House now serves as a coastal museum that interprets 18th-century life along Maryland’s seaside.
The mission of the Rackliffe House Trust is to preserve and restore Rackliffe House and its grounds to their original 18th-century appearance and through artifacts and interpretation, to share the stories of the Native, African, and European Americans who occupied this historic site. https://rackliffehouse.org/

Maryland’s May 2022 Housing Statistics Reveals Slight Easing of Inventory Amidst Rising Prices and Fewer Homes Sold

Data suggests that housing inventory may be easing, but other signs—higher sales prices, increased mortgage rates, and a recent study from the Mortgage Bankers Association of America, which reported that the volume of mortgage applications dropped to its lowest level in 22 years—suggest a more challenging picture moving forward.
