5 Reasons Why Credit Is Denied

1). Low Credit Scores

The information contained in a Credit Report is combined using a complex calculation method that results in a Credit Score. Often times, creditors will deny applications based only on the score without looking at the individual's elements in the calculation.

2). Incorrect Information

Your credit report may contain information belonging to another individual. For example, if you are a junior (Jr.) you may have your parent senior (Sr.) credit information in your file. A regular credit report review is the best way of making sure that the information on your Credit Report is accurate and true.

3). Debt To Income Ratio

If the ratio of your total monthly debts compared to your total monthly income is too high, the creditor may decide against extending more credit to you because the lender feels you may not be able to afford the payments. Some banks or lenders may illegally discount non salary income in arriving at this ratio, but the EQUAL CREDIT OPPORTUNITY ACT requires creditors to consider income such as, earned income, social security, child support and alimony as sources of income.

4). Delinquent Payment History

If the report contains a history of late payments or collection accounts that were never paid, there is a very strong chance that a future application for credit will be denied.

5). Lack Of Credit History

If you never had credit or you just begun building your credit, the credit bureaus may not have enough information to accurately give you a score. This is called a thin file.

Pay your balance in full. Get a credit card with Cash Back, 1.5 or 2%. Pay all your bills (utilities, gas, and groceries) with it. Make about 3-5k a year FREE in cash back. Easy money! Treat yourself.

CHANGES TO MEDICAL DEBT REPORTING‼️

⚠️Changes for Consumers made jointly by Equifax, Experian and TransUnion⚠️

The three nationwide credit reporting agencies - Equifax, Experian and TransUnion - have agreed to three important changes to reporting medical collection accounts.

• Paid medical collection debt will no longer be included on consumer credit reports, as of July 1, 2022.
• The time period before unpaid medical collection debt will appear on a consumer’s report will be increased from six months to one year, also effective July 1, 2022. This change gives consumers more time to work with insurance and/or healthcare providers to address medical collection debt before it appears on credit reports.
• Medical debt collection accounts under at least $500 will no longer be included on consumer credit reports. This goes into effect the first half of 2023.
These significant changes to medical collection debt reporting support consumers faced with unexpected medical bills.

Credit Repair is NOT an overnight fix. There are no shortcuts to fixing the years of mistakes you’ve made. Collections, bankruptcies, judgments and any other derogatory items all have to go through a process which takes at LEAST 30 business days. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, a credit reporting agency has to review and respond to every dispute it receives within 30 days!!!
