We have excellent teachers, administrators, and staff and I am excited about the future of our schools."

I’m a researcher at heart. In all the leadership positions I’ve held in my life, I’ve always made a point to listen to experts, consider all points of view, and then carefully do my own research. It’s a process that has served me well many times, and one that I will continue to use as your OSSD school board representative. Tomorrow on Election Day, please vote ! 🗳
What should you look for in someone who wants to represent you on the school board? Our next OSSD school board trustee should have a keen eye toward serving the needs of ALL students, a desire to foster a strong relationship between OSSD and the community it serves, and at the heart of it all, a school board trustee should unequivocally believe in the VALUE of public education. As your next representative on the OSSD school board, I, Lauranne Vance Tomaszewski, will bring to the table my experience in the field of curriculum, my education, and my heart for service. And I’ll put every time. ✅💙

As Ocean Springs residents who live outside the city limits (also known as the “unincorporated area” or “Added Territory”) there are many parts of our lives we don’t get to vote on. Lauranne Vance Tomaszewski will be YOUR VOICE on the OSSD school board. Decisions that affect the lives of our children are some of the most important - we NEED someone who will stand up for what’s right, fully research each decision, and represent the interests of ALL of us. What an informative meeting this morning at the OSSD Central Office! Superintendent Dr. Bonita Coleman served as guest speaker for the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, Mississippi - Ocean Springs Area Council monthly meeting. She gave an update to area business leaders about all the wonderful things going on in the Ocean Springs School District. Meetings like this and ratings like these make me so proud that Thad and Vance are ! As your next OSSD School Board trustee, I look forward to working with Dr. Coleman to continue to build on the success of our schools.
If I’ve learned one thing as a mom, it’s that one-size-fits-all doesn’t always fit ALL. My son Thad wears hearing aids. His needs in the classroom are entirely different - he needs to see faces, read lips, and process expression in order to fully comprehend. It’s a fact that students learn best in person, inside a classroom, without masks - this is a fact that’s especially true for Thad. As your OSSD School Board trustee, I promise to take into consideration the needs of ALL students in every decision we make. Let’s work together to put STUDENTS FIRST by electing
Hundreds of highly-trained professional educators spend years vetting and curating a library of resources, lessons plans, and curriculum for OSSD students. I so appreciate their work and the diligent efforts of all parents who take an active role in understanding what their children are learning in the classroom. Let me be clear: Critical Race Theory has NO PLACE in Ocean Springs Public Schools. As a School Board trustee, I will bring to the table my years of experience in curriculum creation, development, and implementation. I’m a researcher at heart, have a tireless work ethic, and a vested interest in the success of our schools. Read up on candidate positioning in this MS Parents Campaign questionnaire below.

The Ocean Springs “Added Territory” is a tricky one, but we’re making it simple - if you live in the BLUE area on this map (aka “the county” or the “unincorporated area”), YOU will elect your next OSSD School Board Trustee on November 2nd. It’s an important vote folks - take a look at the map and talk to your neighborhood peers about voting! A VOTE FOR LT, IS A VOTE FOR OSSD!!
What a perfect example of that GREYHOUND GRIT by our students AND teachers - OSSD was ONE of just TWO MS school districts to be ranked as a high performer in ALL FOUR SUBJECT AREAS! As your OSSD School Board Trustee, one of my primary goals will be to partner with Dr. Coleman and fellow board members in keeping this GREAT educational momentum going. Congrats and a HUGE thank you to all our teachers for this fantastic recognition!
