Here at the Lighthouse Assisted Living our Speech therapist is

🌟ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)

🌟Fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) certified

🌟VitalStim certified (electrical current to stimulate the muscles to restore the swallowing function)

Speech therapy is treatment that improves your ability to express wants/needs, thoughts, understand what people are saying to you, and other language skills. It can also improve skills like your memory, safety awareness, and ability to solve problems.

Speech therapists also help people regain their swallowing through swallowing exercises, techniques and positioning. Promote patient safety through modifying the texture of food and fluids, reducing the risk of malnutrition, dehydration and aspiration.
