Victoria started out as an assistant but hustled her way into being so busy I couldn’t even use her as an assistant and within 2 days she was one of my stylists ⚡️

She’s a hard one to crack but once you do you will soon realize how soft she is on the inside.

She is BEYOND talented, she’s SPICY 🌶, an expert at blonding and she’s everything Búa needed at the time she came in — she’ll forever be one of my best friends and I would do anything for her 🫶🏼

Here are some prime examples of both for you to refer to in your biz 🙌🏼

• Mastering being all the things your biz needs vs just being an “employee”
• Working on yourself bc your staff mirrors you vs only caring about pleasing the boss
• Understanding and breaking down systems vs just clocking in and doing what needs to be done that day

• Budget wisely for unforeseen expenses vs not caring about it

In the beauty biz world TODAY it’s so important for all of us to have a CEO mindset because we are in charge of our success — nobody else is responsible for that 👏🏼

The recent news is super disturbing to me as a woman and as a gay woman.

Growing up in the south raised by Baptist Christian’s I was raised to believe that a woman’s place was to find a well off man to marry and bear him children.

For the longest time I lived in shame believing the feelings I felt were wrong and I was scared to be my authentic self.

It wasn’t until I was 30 and living in NY that I was comfortable enough in my own skin to be the me you see today.

I skim through tiktok to see politicians from SC on the news calling for executions of gay people, saying we are grooming children’s minds. Watching Roe be overturned and knowing how deeply that will affect so many vulnerable and underserved.

Seeing things in the news calling for things like equal pay for women, contraception and gay marriage to be overturned outrages, breaks my heart and scares me.

I am not an activist by any means. Normally I wouldn’t touch politics because I feel like people should be free to do what they want with out interference.

I’m aware that I may lose followers and people may disagree with me as this is something most would not choose to discuss publicly.

When male politicians and right wing concervatives choose to monetize, politicize and polarize these topics. I feel I have no option but to use my voice.

Politicians beware there is a young girl out there who is ashamed and scared because she has feelings that her parents or church don’t agree with.

That girl could easily be your daughter.

I understand other creators and brand owners may be scared to say something but we have a responsibility on this platform to use our voices. The thing is, the dismantling of human rights affects ALL of us. We are allowed to be angry.

Having to grow up very fast while also still being a child was not easy for me. Addiction, abuse & constant rage is something I was a victim to at a very young age — things no child should ever have to go through.

My whole life has been a journey of healing but lately I’ve noticed I’m very easily triggered by small things that put me in fight-or-flight mode and cause me to react very defensively, saying things I later regret.

When I’m triggered it’s a constant battle in my mind with my inner child thoughts — I’m not good enough and I’m not doing enough. But what I’ve learned is as you heal your wounds, you are challenging your reality by holding up a mirror that’s very hard to look in 🪞

Little Jess has been through enough. Sometimes she needs a hug to feel safe and valued, and that’s OKAY. She is good enough and always has been. She is seen, heard and valued. She is healing.

Reparenting our wounded child inside literally transforms our reactions to daily triggers — but there will be setbacks. I’m learning to process those setbacks and allow myself to heal even more through them.

We are not designed to live in survival mode. Our bodies need safety. Our souls need to rest. Triggers can feel discouraging but they are purpose points to areas your inner child is begging to heal.

Take some extra time to love the little, lost, broken you a little bit more today.

Here’s why you should offer clients a glaze over a purple shampoo 🤝🏼

Rather than them coming in for a regular glaze, they use purple shampoo, which takes money out of your pocket AND theirs because eventually they will need to spend more money on treatments to fix the damage overuse of purple shampoo can do.

Although there is a safe way to use purple shampoo, more often than not clients believe purple shampoo is a quick fix to brassy tones and overuse it, which can in the long run, cause damage.

When she came to Búa I knew she would make a phenomenal colorist + extension expert, so we taught her all of our techniques even though she already had it in her, she just needed our help becoming more confident in herself.

Now this babe is a lead educator at Búa Salon and Búa Babe Extensions, she’s also in charge of our assistant training program. She is a VERY technical and methodical person — she teaches and trains all of the intro courses for extensions.
