Volunteer Spotlight on Angelica Monclova, who volunteers with West Texas Jazz Society!

At Odessa Arts, we believe that the heartbeat of any thriving cultural community lies within its people. Today, we want to spotlight the unsung heroes who make our arts organizations successful—the dedicated volunteers 🙌❤️

Angelica Monclova has been a passionate volunteer with the West Texas Jazz Society, dedicated to supporting music education. As a music educator, she enjoys showing students that music offers lifelong fulfillment.

One memorable experience was when Mr. Eric Baker, WTJS President, proposed bringing Los Angeles musicians to visit local campuses to recruit for fine arts music. Angelica hosted the “LA All Stars” on her campus, a first for her career. The students were thrilled to meet famous Hollywood musicians and even received a FaceTime call from top trumpeter Wayne Bergeron.

“To this day, I can't think of a single event that has brought this much happiness and fulfillment as a music educator," she says. Angelia shared the photos included in this post of the remarkable day! What an amazing experience showcasing the incredible impact of the West Texas Jazz Society.

Through our Cultural Tourism Grants, we proudly support numerous organizations that rely on volunteers to bring their visions to life.

Stay tuned as we continue highlighting more amazing volunteers like Angelica and share their stories!

✨ Volunteer Spotlight on Lisa Anderson who volunteers with Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center! ✨

At Odessa Arts, we believe that the heartbeat of any thriving cultural community lies within its people. Today, we want to spotlight the unsung heroes who make our arts organizations successful—the dedicated volunteers 🙌❤️

Through our Cultural Tourism Grants, we proudly support numerous organizations that rely on volunteers to bring their visions to life. In the coming weeks, we'll highlight some of these amazing volunteers and share their stories. We hope their dedication and enthusiasm will inspire others to get involved and support the arts in Odessa.

Lisa began volunteering at the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center shortly after retiring from a fulfilling career in teaching. For her, the joy of enhancing guests' experiences is what makes her volunteer work truly rewarding. "When people choose to attend events at the Wagner Noël, they come planning to have a good time, and I try to make certain they feel welcome and comfortable," Lisa shares.

Lisa has a special fondness for attending and volunteering at shows for children. She loves how live performances captivate young audiences and has enjoyed learning new things from educational shows, covering topics from space to history.

One of Lisa’s favorite aspects of working as an usher is the opportunity to make new friends and reconnect with old ones. "I have cried with joy at seeing former students and feel blessed to be a part of the Wagner community," she says.

Stay tuned as we continue to highlight more amazing volunteers like Lisa and share their stories!
