One of my favorite W-SS photos. Note the Heer schiffens with metal skulls. My guess this photo is around 41/early 42

Masamitsu Yoshioka, who is the last surviving veteran of the Pearl Harbor raid as the navigator of a Nakajima "Kate" torpedo bomber has passed away. he was 106 year old.

From the Air Group of Aircraft Carrier Soryu, Masamitsu Yoshioka was one of the select group chosen to launch a daring first strike against American naval power in the Pacific in December 7, 1941.

As the navigator of a Nakajima "Kate" torpedo bomber, Yoshioka helped sink the USS Utah, moored at her berth in Pearl Harbor on the island of Oahu. Events that day also set in motion the bloody Pacific War.

An amazing and super rare Civil War CS (confederate states) officers boot spur I found metal detecting an area where confederate cavalry was camped! This was made by the southern firm of Thomas Leech and George Rigdon of Memphis TN. This firm was known as the Memphis Novelty Works and operated making swords, revolvers, spurs, buckles, etc., from December of 1861 to December 13th 1863 when the company failed and was dissolved. The company moved to Columbus, Mississippi, in may 1862, before Memphis fell to the federal navy. Their official receipts show that only 1,025 pairs of spurs, both marked with CS and unmarked, were manufactured between mid-May 1862 and November 1862 before the company moved to Georgia. They may have made a limited number after the move, but I could not find any records indicating that. It is so amazing to find and hold a piece of local Memphis area confederate history, not to mention one manufactured in such limited numbers for officers! These are also quite valuable, though I don't sell any artifacts I dig.
