‼️4 common mistakes clients make when taking care of colored hair:

1. Shampooing too often - We get it babe. It’s hot, you workout often, your hair gets greasy quickly, or you just can’t stand it after 2 days. Let us get you in on a secret though. The FAUX WASH. You can TOTALLY rinse your hair and go through all the motions of shampooing it, but without using shampoo! This is one of our favorite tricks to preserving color, plus it saves you on product usage!

2. Raking through your tangles rather than actually detangling your hair with a good leave-in conditioner. Your hair is only as healthy as you treat it, and when it’s already being treated with chemicals the LAST thing you want to do is go rip it out. Treat those locs with love! 🫶🏻

3. Not using any moisturizing and nourishing after care products! Listen, we’re product junkies over here, but you definitely don’t need 10 products just to take care of your hair. When starting to build your stock at home, start with care products! Styling products and care products aren’t the same and we can help set you up with the right ones for YOU.

4. Last but definitely not least, sleeping in a WET ponytail. You want to avoid tension when you’re sleeping and rolling around at night, so even a dry ponytail or bun can be problematic and cause damage. However, it should definitely never ever be a wet and tied up.

4 MAJOR MISTAKES CLIENTS MAKE WITH THEIR HAIR & WHAT WE THINK ABOUT THEM!

1. “I want to grow it out so I’m not going to cut it.”
- Getting regular haircuts can seem redundant if your goal is to gain length, however, haircuts aren’t only important to maintain the health of your ends. They’re important to keep it shaped and lively! Abandoning your haircuts creates heavy & lifeless hair that’s quite literally just hanging around. Even if you’re growing it out it should feel intentional and playful, babe!

2. “I don’t really do anything to it so I don’t need products.”
- This one is so common! Our hair experiences normal wear and tear just from being on our heads. It goes everywhere we go and gets exposed to all the elements. Especially wind! You don’t have to be blow-drying, heat styling, or coloring your hair to need a good care routine. Care products should be apart of everyone’s regimen.

3. Not telling your stylist if there is a spot you don’t like.
- Maybe you have a spot that’s always been an issue, so you’ve just accepted it and don’t bring it up. Maybe it’s just 3 little hairs but everything else is fine. Learning the little pieces that you struggle with is how your stylist becomes YOUR stylist.

4. Being afraid to use product because it will make your hair feel greasy.
- Some products can definitely be heavy but the RIGHT products should actually do the opposite. The right combo should extend the life of your style and leave you feeling like your hair gets greasier faster without them! Pro-tip: It’s not just dry shampoo either!

1. The first application will always fade the quickest. It takes time to really saturate the hair, but after a while you’ll notice that even when it’s faded, it will still look great. Once that pigment is set in, we often hear that the week before you’re due to have it retouched you’ll still be getting compliments.

2. Bleaching your hair prior to a vivid application not only helps vibrancy, but can increase the longevity of the color if done right! YEP! You heard it. You SHOULD be lightening your hair for a vivid. Having this done by a professional is important because after your hair will be more prone to drying out. This process MUST be done with care and require some love after it’s done. Your at home care routine is HUGE in how well your color lasts. Good products and a commitment to good hair is the vibe. It’s a team effort to have healthy vibrant hair. 💪🏻

3. Maintenance it will always depend on the color placement, which color you choose, the integrity of your hair, and how well it’s taken care of at home. Some people have gotten to a point of only having to touch it up every 6 months!🤩
