Meet Dr. Susan Chambers, one of the founders of Lakeside Women’s Hospital! Since delivering the first baby at Lakeside in 1997, Dr. Chambers has cared for patients through generations.

"One of the greatest joys of being an OB/GYN is caring for patients year after year, experiencing their joys and pains, and delivering generations of wonderful people," she says. “While delivering babies was one of the best parts of the job, we have always offered more than obstetrics and gynecology. We care for the overall health of our patients. For a lot of them, we are their primary care physicians."

Dr Chambers' clinical interests include gynecologic surgery, robotic surgery and women's health. She is pursuing another certification in Lifestyle Medicine to promote women's health.

Outside of the office she believes in giving back and is involved in several community organizations.

ASK LAKESIDE: At Lakeside, our providers are here to answer all your questions about women's healthcare and pregnancy.

Q: When should my teen see an OB/GYN?**

A: Adolescence is marked by many milestones, including a teen’s first OB/GYN visit. This experience can set the stage for a lifetime of talking about reproductive and s*xual health.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends teens start seeing an OB/GYN between the ages of 13 and 15. This visit can be scheduled “just because” to be proactive, or to discuss specific concerns related to a teen's development such as periods, puberty or s*xual activity.

The visit provides a chance to get one-on-one health advice in a safe, comfortable setting. Reach out to any of our medical providers to schedule an initial visit for your teen.

We know, it's summertime and the last thing on our minds is catching a cold! But expecting moms, now is the time to consider your RSV vaccination.

RSV is highly contagious and can cause serious respiratory illness in babies, young children and older adults. The RSV vaccine is approved by the FDA for women during 32-36 weeks of pregnancy, giving the body time to create antibodies that pass to your baby, offering protection for about 6 months after birth.

Protect yourself and your little one and ask your Lakeside medical provider if the RSV vaccine is right for you.

Meet Dr. Margaret Hall, a member of the Lakeside team since 2006. Dr. Hall has been practicing obstetrics and gynecology for 27 years, and enjoys performing minimally invasive surgery, including complex robotic, laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery.

"Did you know that 60% of hysterectomies in the U.S. are still being performed through a large abdominal incision (laparotomy)? This is despite convincing evidence that clearly shows an abdominal hysterectomy is associated with more pain, more blood loss, a longer hospital stay and a longer recovery period than the minimally invasive alternatives.

Unfortunately, many patients don't know there are other options available to treat their condition. An abdominal hysterectomy is of course warranted in certain cases. However, often there is a less invasive approach that involves a shorter hospital stay and less time away from work and daily activities."

If you are considering hysterectomy to treat your condition, please let us help you navigate through your surgical options.

When was your last well-woman exam? If it’s been more than a year, it’s time to reach out to your women’s health provider.

No matter your age, for women and people assigned female at birth, taking care of your health requires more than an annual physical. A well-woman exam focuses on different issues than a physical from a primary care doctor and is essential for maintaining reproductive health and overall well-being.

Read more in our blog post at ww.lakesidedoctors.com/news and take a proactive step towards your health by scheduling your well-woman exam today.

While typically benign, fibroids can cause discomfort and lead to serious health complications if untreated.

Summer is here, and it's crucial to prioritize sun protection, especially during pregnancy!☀️☂️

Sunscreen isn't just about preventing sunburn-it safeguards your skin from harmful UV rays that can lead to long-term damage and increase the risk of melanoma. Pregnant women are more susceptible to the sun's effects, so it's essential to make sun protection a daily habit.

In addition to broad-spectrum sunscreen, be sure to seek shade, wear protective clothing and avoid peak sun hours when spending time outdoors. Be sure to ask your medical provider for more tips to help you stay safe and enjoy the sunshine!😎
