This statute wil go into effect on November 1st 2021.
"It is the policy of this state to assure that minor children have frequent and continuing contact with parents who have shown the ability to act in the best interests of their children and to encourage parents to share in the rights and responsibilities of rearing their children after the parents have separated or dissolved their marriage. The court may consider evidence of the ability of the parents to cooperate on issues related to their minor children, as well as evidence of domestic violence, stalking, or harassment as defined in Section 109 of this title. To effectuate this policy, if requested by a parent, the court may provide substantially equal access to the minor children to both parents at a temporary order or final hearing, unless the court finds that shared parenting would be detrimental to the child. The court shall issue findings of fact and conclusions of law to support its decision after a final hearing on the merits." 43 O.S. Section 110.1.

Divorces are booming during pandemic, lawyers say If 2020 has brought one thing to everyone, it’s stress

Clients,
Re: Firm Operations During The Covid-19 Pandemic.
First, We hope that you all find yourselves healthy and comfortable during this trying time. In our fifteen (15) years of operation, this is the only time we have had to close our doors due to a global pandemic. Normal closures in Oklahoma are generally limited to weather-related closings and are generally no longer than one (1) day. This is a novel problem for us as well.
We feel that we owe a serious duty of care to the staff, clients, office mates and outside vendors, including experts, process servers, opposing parties and fellow members of the bench and bar and many other entities that we work with on a daily basis. To do our part, we are closing our physical office until no earlier than April 1st 2020. Nobody will be physically present at the office and you needn't try to come there.
The Supreme Court of the State of Oklahoma and various District Courts in which we practice have issued various administrative orders. The combined effect of these orders is that most, if not all ,of our in-court hearings, conferences and trials set in March and early April have been stricken (cancelled) and will be reset over the next several weeks.
Emergency custody hearings will be held on a case-by-case basis and the Judge's have a wide degree of discretion in whether or not to allow an emergency hearing and what format that hearing will be conducted in (i.e., in person or some form of an electronic appearance).
Our first priority, as always, is to assist our clients in protecting the physical and emotional safety of their children who may be in harm's way. To that end, we will make ourselves available to prosecute emergency proceedings on a case-by-case basis, even if that necessitates an in-person meeting.
Our second priority, of course, is to get all of your hearings rescheduled and, as of today (March 19th 2020), we are in constant communication with court house personnel in multiple counties to make certain that hearings are re-scheduled as soon as practically possible. We are a busy law firm and this is a rather complicated and time consuming endeavor and will necessitate much of our focus in the coming weeks.
Our third priority, broadly speaking, is to be as accommodating as we can be to attorneys, witnesses, judges and courthouse personnel who have pre-existing conditions or, for any other legitimate reason, do not feel comfortable appearing personally for hearings in the coming weeks. We will try our best to balance the needs of the clients and the need for common decency amongst professionals. We respect and care for many of the fellow attorneys, Judges and courthouse staff we have come to know through the years and their safety and well being is a high priority for us.
Should you need anything prior to April 1st 2020, please email the main firm address at [email protected]. Any emergency matters will be responded to immediately and will take precedence over other matters.
Lastly, take care of yourselves and be mindful of the difficult task ahead for the judicial branch of government as we attempt to manage the logistics of this partial shutdown the best we can. I imagine some patience will be required of us all.
Respectfully,
Daniel R. Bays
