Olathe Public Schools Board of Education is seeking applications to fill a vacancy on the district’s Board of Education for District 1, Position 1. Applications are now available on the district website and should be hand delivered to the Board Clerk at the Olathe Public Schools Education Center (14160 S. Black Bob Rd.) with proof of residency by 10 a.m. on April 24. Applicants must be Olathe patrons residing in the Board of Education District 1. Me being a car guy this is great for these students!!! I know my car show buddies will love this too.

Due to the forecast for inclement weather, Olathe Public Schools will be closed Thursday, March 10. All district buildings will be closed and facility rental and JCPRD childcare are also cancelled.

The district continues to track hours to ensure students are meeting state requirements. Currently, elementary and middle schools are within the number of hours they need, but our high schools have exceeded their allotted number of snow day hours. This means that students in early childhood, elementary school and middle school will have a traditional snow day, with no school. High school students will have a remote learning day.

High school students and families will receive additional communication from their schools with specific instructions about how their day will look.

Reflecting on the unthinkable event yesterday at Olathe East, I am proud to be an Olathe citizen and school board member. We came together as a community in a time of need. Strangers helping strangers. Local businesses bringing water and supplies to help parents and students. Thank you to all responding agencies, OSD administration and staff that got students and staff home safely. Keep the students and staff in your thoughts along with SRO Clark and our administrator who were injured. If you need someone to talk with please reach out.

I want to show my appreciation to the 6 members of the BOCC that voted to end the mask mandate in our schools effective immediately. I also want to personally say “thank you” to Charlotte O’Hara and all the Olathe parents/citizens of Johnson County for helping get this done. It takes a village and great leaders!! Here is to seeing all the smiling faces.

I want to thank all of the volunteers who knocked on doors put out signs in their neighborhoods and in their yards. Without out all of my supporters, none of this would be possible. All of the Kids 1st candidates won because of our team of supporters. This isn’t over. I look forward to working for all of our parents and students during the coming years!

Edit: Reading through this post just now, I realized I forgot to thank the 4 most important people, my wife and kids Erica who sacrificed me being gone in the evenings and weekends while I campaigned. Thank you!!

Tomorrow is the day all of the Students 1st candidates have been working towards. Everyone needs to get out and vote and let them know we stand together for a change in our school board. Call or text all of your neighbors, friends and family in the district. We will make a change for the better!!!

Early voting starts today. Time to make a change for the better in the Olathe School District. I am heading over to vote, then going door knocking to get the word out!

So the Olathe Reporter and my opponent want to spread some false information about my voting record for the last 5 years. I have missed one primary on 8/16/19 in the last 5 years. Interesting when I looked up my opponents voting record she missed a USD 233 voting opportunity on 6/7/16.

It has come to my attention that many of the Student 1st candidates signs are being removed throughout the city. Not sure who is doing it but this must stop! I do not condone anyone removing any signs for any candidate.

Just a reminder that today is the last day to register to vote in the November election. This election is more important than ever, let’s go out and make change on November 2nd!!

As many of you know I am running for Olathe School Board on a grass roots campaign. All the money I have raised has come from parents just like you that want a change for the better with the current board.
