Olney Quilt Guild was formed in September of 2003 at the First United Methodist Church in Olney, Illinois, by a group of women in the area who were interested in a chance to make new friends, sharpen quilting skills, and share their talents with others. This organization operates as a non-profit organization. The purpose of this organization shall be to preserve the heritage of quilting, to assist
Thanks to Mary Kay from the Red Barn quilt shop for teaching members how to make these cute little heart bags at today’s workshop. Sew cute, and others worked on their own projects.

Monthly meeting tomorrow at 6:30. We meet at the Church of the Nazarene here in Olney. Anyone is welcome! Non-members can come to two meetings for free! So if you have been thinking about joining, now is the time! Come start your year off right ❤️❤️
Anyone have any 2024 quilting goals?
I have my calendar filled out with what my goals are! I find making a goal of completion date keeps me on track. Plus I can schedule spots out to have them quilted.
First finishing up my 2023 weather quilt!
Also on my list
*Her Maj (a Queen Elizabeth quilt)
*My international Sunbonnet Sue
*A Christmas appliqué quilt
*Autumnville
*starting a new sampler
I also have several cross stitch patterns on my to do list! I just recently started and I’m loving the hand work!
First up this week, cleaning and reorganizing my sewing room! It’s a disaster!!! I better get busy 😱🙈
What does everyone else have planned for 2024? Do you make a list and timeline? Or just work on whatever you feel like?
If you need motivation for finishing your goals come join the guild! Lots of opportunities to get together to sew and always lots of people willing to help ❤️
Have you thought about joining the quilt guild?
2024 is the year to join!!
We have lots of fun in this group. Not sure what we are all about, come to a meeting! You are allowed to come to 2 meetings as our guest before you decide to join!
Not sure what are meetings are? No problem! Here is a brief summary:
No, we don't sew at our monthly meetings. (Although we have lots of opportunities to do that!) Our meetings are usually about 1 - 1.5 hours. In 2024 we will have a short mini lesson each month. Things like binding, cutting basics, sewing machine maintenance etc. Then we have a quick "business" meeting. This covers our financial etc. We also discuss upcoming workshops, any sales at local shops, or any upcoming local shows. Then we have our program. This is different every month. Sometimes we invite people in to speak about certain skills, sometimes we have local shop owners come and talk, etc. We always end our meetings with my favorite part Show and Tell! This is were people can get up and show things they are working on or things they have completed!
Our meetings are very low key. We meet on the first Monday of the month at the Church of the Nazarene here in Olney. (Unless a holiday then we meet the second Monday)
Then we have many small groups in our guild that meet on Monday mornings to sew, Tuesdays, and Thursday evenings. The guild also offers Monthly workshops. All of these things are optional and you can go to all or none, or as many as you would like.
We have a wonderful group of men and women right now in the guild and have some very exciting things coming up in 2024!
If you have ever been interested in coming or learning more, we invite you to our January meeting!
If you have any questions you can post on here, send a PM or reach out to any of the Olney Guild Members. We would love to help you and we would love to have you be part of our guild if you are interested!
Our next meeting is January 8th at 6:30 at the church of the Nazarene here in Olney. If you have ever considered joining, now is a great time! Come join us. Even if your not a member and your interested, you may come to two meetings to see what we are all about as our guest! It's a great group, and we have lots of fun things planned for 2024!

I have been contacted by MBT in Newton. She has been received quite a bit of quilting items/supplies that belonged to Marty Savoy to sell. One of the items is a partially finished quilt, which she believes is Serendipity by Jenny Doan. She called and asked me if I had the pattern so she could finish it. I have looked and I do not. Do any of the guild members have this pattern that I could get to her. Thank you for your help. Laurie Rist
