Hello Everybody!

We will be CLOSED WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 4th because ....I will be at the Evergreen Wellness Fair this Wednesday, Oct. 4th to teach an Auricular Acupressure aka Ear Seed worship, and table at the Fair..... I am so excited about this workshop because it is an easy, gentle, hands-on, skill that can effectively support the mental health of you and your loved ones - which is so necessary in our dark rainy winters.

Here is a description of the workshop:
Ear Acupressure - There are over 300 acupressure points on the ear that address a variety of conditions including headaches, menstrual cramps, indigestion, and more. In this workshop, we will learn the NADA 5 Needle Protocol - aka 5NP. 5NP is used around the world to help mitigate and prevent the manifestation of stress and trauma including anxiety, depression, irritability, and chronic pain. We will be using acupressure beads known as Ear Seeds instead of using needles and you will learn how and where to place ear seeds in order to support yourself and others. Be prepared to work in pairs. Masks will be required.

Feel free to come by the booth and get some complimentary ear seeds placed on your ear.

Home Remedy for Cough Relief | Steamed Pear with Rock Sugar (Subtitle On) # 30 21/08/2023

Dry Cough due to smokey air? Try poached pears to moisten the lungs! Poached pears have been used in China, Korea, and Vietnam (and probably other countries ) for centuries to treat dry cough (and boost the immune system since healthy lungs fight off infection better). This is a very easy to follow video (and recipe!) The recipe calls for goji berries, rock sugar, and "snow fungus" a neat kind of mushroom - but you can also swap all that out with honey - just steam some pears with a tablespoon of honey inside the pear!

Also - please consider staying inside or buying a simple respirator for outdoor work when the air quality is bad. And come in and get acupuncture if you are experiencing headache or dry throat - acupuncture can help restore the moisture in the lungs and can alleviate your headaches.

An incredible study (https://www.liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/acu.2020.1514) shows that neuropuncture protocol (a form of acupuncture!) can treat tinnitus that results from a variety of sources, including infections, surgeries, loud noises, and many others. This indicates that, even though situations in the ear will vary from person to person, the same protocol can be used in each instance to help treat tinnitus. Do you or someone you know suffers from tinnitus? What’s worked best for you?

Sleep Apnea is rough for those who have it and their family if snoring is present - and not everyone can tolerate a CPAP Mask.

People who get acupuncture on a regular basis find that they sleep better, snore less, and have much more energy.

At OCA, we make getting acupuncture possible by working on a sliding scale and removing other barriers to treatment. You can schedule an appointment today at: www.OlyCommunityAcu.org

Massage and Bodywork now available inside Olympia Community Acupuncture!

Massage, bodywork, gua sha, and cupping are now available on a sliding scale basis with the sweet and skillful Matt Summers LMT.

Here is Matt to Introduce themselves:

i was introduced to massage therapy through happenstance, after a car accident in 2017 left me seeking chiropractic treatment, who then referred me for massage. i wasn't able to keep up with either after the insurance payment ran out, and after experiencing for myself how grounding, healing, overall life-changing the modality could be, i couldn't give it up easily and have done everything i can to make and maintain it as a central part of my life, and have committed myself to be a proponent of accessibility in the field. i try to look at accessibility holistically, from financial, to schedule, to environment, to communication, and try my best to know how my own needs are being met from my work, and what i can do to better allow my work to meet your needs.

My initial known availability will be:
Tuesdays: 4pm to 7pm
Wednesdays: 9am to 5pm
Thursdays: 4pm to 7pm

My initial known rate is $20-120/hr sliding scale

Get in touch with me at my email [email protected], or through call/text at 252-619-4555, welcoming all questions and appointment inquiries, as the above is known and solidified, but maybe together we can figure out what currently unknown possibilities we can reach together to meet your needs if the above doesn't.

If you are struggling with the ramifications of the Supreme Courts recent rulings, we wll be offering free acupuncture today.

“Wow! Acupuncture works!” A patient just sent in this ultrasound and said we could share it here. She came in unable to sleep and reporting 10/10 pain from an unknown cause, turned out it was a calcium deposit. While waiting for insurance to kick in, she got acupuncture - no other course of treatment and look! The calcium deposit shrank over the course of 6 treatments performed over 3 weeks! Acupuncture is so cool. It not only relieves pain, it actually changes and heals tissue. Helping people sleep, eat, move, and enjoy life. This is what it’s about.

Hello Everybody!

We're excited to announce that we're putting on a fundraiser to pay for renovations costs and start up supplies for our new, dedicated clinic space! We're trying to raise $4,600, so anything you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.

The link to contribute is here: https://secure.givelively.org/donate/olympia-community-acupuncture/brick-and-mortar-renovation

The new location will have a lobby, an office for private intakes, a massage room, and will be wheelchair accessible and on the buslines. It will our space so we can expand to 5 days a week!

We've already had some incredibly generous donations and a lot of people have volunteered to help with renovations, we still have a ways to go, so if you can contribute or pass this along - it would help quite a bit.

24/03/2022

We signed a lease!!!
Starting in May, we will be in our new dedicated space at 2109 Harrison Ave NW!

It will have a wheelchair ramp, a lobby, and a room for massage! And it's on multiple buslines! We are currently renovating, which involves tearing out multiple layers of tile and flooring, so that YOU can have a beautiful, quiet, peaceful space to heal.

We have to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the volunteers who have helped out already. They did some serious heavy lifting with ripping out glued down tiles, pulling up carpets tacks, sanding window frames, taking down sheet rock, and so much more. We are incredibly incredibly grateful for your many hours of service and support thus far.

If you would like to help with the renovation, we are gladly accepting donations to cover the costs as well as volunteers to help with the labor. If you'd like to help out, you can call or email 360-545-3767 to find out the date of our next work party.

We get it - people are sick of masks! I'm sick of wearing them too! But our hospitals are still struggling to care for our community because they're treating COVID patients and dealing with a backlog of procedures and care that has been put off due to being overwhelmed by COVID.

The Washington State Hospital Association is highly encouraging all Washington residents to continue to wear masks in all indoor public settings until "we have multiple months of very low COVID-19 numbers under our belt. By masking up, you not only protect the safety of yourself and those around you, but also help reduce strain on your local hospitals to ensure they can continue providing health care services."

Hospitals are still overwhelmed and when a hospital is stretched thin -nobody wins. So give the hospitals a break and keep your mask on until numbers really drop!

You can read more about the WSHA's mask guidelines here: https://www.wsha.org/articles/keep-your-mask-on-to-protect-yourself-and-local-hospitals/
