Now that my brain has regained some of its power I can say THANK YOU to long time Rock Candy Burlesque fans and our new friends for showing up and packing The Crypt last Saturday night, an all-around sold-out show! I can say with confidence that about 3/4 of the room were people who have been waiting for this return! It warms my heart that you welcomed us back after that long, forced hiatus, even though the al gore rhythm was suppressing our reach in the two weeks leading to the show.

Let me tell you that curating and crafting this show was everything that I could dream of, all the performers who agreed to be part of this reunion brought the very best and left it all onsat the stage. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for joining this renewed dream, and for all the words of love said both behind the scenes and on stage. I can't wait to do this again! Thank you former Candies Rainie Dae, Bananas Foster, Momo La Vein, Sven Handelsbod, and founder May B. Naughty for bringing your art to the stage, and Vanessa the Witch for bringing Glamour Krampus and co-hosting with me! Thank you so much to local guest artists Dulce, Luna DeLyte, VenDetta Petty Kash D'Ho for bringing the perfect complement to this weird ass holiday show!

Big special thank you to the crew for your hard and smart work in making sure this show went smoothly! We had a couple of hiccups that you all handled so professionally, and stepped in when it was necessary to cover for each other, despite all challenges we still started the show fairly on time! It took thinking on your feet and on the fly and never broke a sweat because you all ROCK! Stage Manager Risque and Rye and Kittens Can Can B Naughty, Boostie YAY; Hattie Hotpants for acting as our door person and Front of House Manager; Candace Lexia for pushing those prize items; Epi Scene on setup and sound; Fozzie Gayer our floater for taking over the spotlight and for being at the ready for anything; Robert Gray for documenting with photography; Heather Schofner for the social media photos; the man formerly known as Mr. Picante for handling the static video camera. And THAT is what I call team work!

Special thanks to chicken Rex Manny Lyvz for stepping in and handling the spotlight on the first half while we were shuffling things around in the best possible way. We love you to pieces!

Lastly HUGE thanks to The Crypt for believing in the experience we offer, Rock Candy Burlesque is super privileged to have each other in this little artistic community- this show was just the perfect way to get us on stage together one more time! 12 years ago in 2011 we had dreams of glitter and sequins. We were barely beginning to know each other! Over the years our lineups have changed, but one thing is consistent to this day: we have cultivated lasting relationships inside and outside of the group.

Hi! My name is Latina K Turner D'Ho, formerly known as Perlita Picante. I am your producer, curator, and co-host for this show!

I am co-founder and until 2016 full time member of Rock Candy Burlesque. I am so honored to produce this show for us, and for you! Rock Candy Burlesque was my home for a little over 6 years until I moved on to solo work at the end of 2016. My last show with Rock Candy was in fact, Oh Christmas Tease, and it's only fitting that my first official return show is the same event in 2023!

I am also co-founder of Papaya Magic Cabaret, the first and currently only all-Latine burlesque and cabaret performance collective in Olympia; producer and curator of “Azucar, An All- Latine Cabaret Experience” at The Crypt; and the oldest (in age) chicken at Free Range Drag collective.

I am in awe of the support this return is receiving! It's heartwarming to know that we haven't been forgotten. We are going to show up and have a great time with our longtime fans, and with our new friends on this very special event.

I was a burly baby with only my debut under my belt when May B. Naughty asked me in mid-late 2011 if I wanted to become part of a new burlesque venture in Olympia. Encouraged by her Burlycon roommates the year prior, May had a dream of building community, and I count my lucky stars that she trusted my vision to help make this happen.

We both learned so much and made mistakes and just dipped our toes on how to map out a successful burlesque troupe and produce a great show, this experience shaped a lot of what I am able to do today as a producer and her encouragement has been crucial in my development.

I wouldn't just call her a founding member, May was THE OG founder of this crazy dream! She was/is the essence of Rock Candy Burlesque, the force that drove us to be better performers each day and I am honored to take the post from her to continue this dream.

"This Pacific Northwest cutie has been an Olympia staple since 2012. Both on and off the stage, she’s definitely entertaining, certainly surprising, and just a little bit naughty, she’s May B. Naughty! As a founding member and former director Rock Candy Burlesque, May B’s mission has always been to create and foster a welcoming community for burlesque in Olympia. Her dance background is wide and varied including belly dance and cabaret, but the allure of fringe and pasties seduced her completely. Not only is this diva a dancing one, but she is a sublime seamstress to boot! She may give you saccharine and sweet, but will leave you with a tantalizing tickle as she wow’s you with unexpected reveals and sexy thrills!

This Nordic Drag Prince is only one side of this multifaceted founding member who always keeps us on our toes with their many personas and creative, fun, unforgettable performances. I have a RIDICULOUS CRUSH on Sven Handelsbod, I have had this crush since the first time I saw him on stage at one of our shows back in the day. With that first time, I died, resurrected, died again and came back from the grave in a total state of bliss, and boy it's been a long break, but I am so happy that he agreed to come play with us one more time and hopefully not the last, because I always crave for more SVEN!

"Known for his tight pants, feather boas, lipstick, and big sideburns, Sven began his drag life as Philly’s Drag Prince, asking everyone if they wanna touch. He moved from Sweden many years ago and put aside his studies of post mortem cosmetology to revel in Seattle’s robust gay club scene. Sven is tired of people who think Sweden is all about ABBA and IKEA. His country is known for more than their harmonious pop groups and affordable pre-fabricated furniture – they also have the best metal bands and a successful social welfare system. A lover of 1970s glam rock, his personal idols are Jobriath, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, and Ron Halford. Needless to say, Sven loves to rock as much as he loves the c**k!"

I always say this and I will keep saying it until I take my last breath, former Candy Vanessa the Witch is the embodiment of joy on stage. She guest-hosted for Rock Candy and performed at Tassel Tuesday several times before officially joining the group, but I distinctly remember the first time I saw Vanessa perform burlesque: My heart was overflowing with so much joy after that number that I ambushed her backstage to give her the biggest hug I could give and said nothing else for a not-so-brief moment. I knew I needed this magical creature in my life! Today I am so blissful to call her my Papaya sister, and to co-host this show with her!

"Equal parts cats and magic, this Cuban mama was born on a Saturday night in Hollywood, CA. She has been performing for 20+ years in many different incarnations including singing, acting, dancing, film, & improv comedy, and has worked offstage as a choreographer, producer, stage manager, theater tech & admin. Currently, she produces Olympia's first Improv Burlesque show Strip! at the Crypt! with The Illustrious Ms. Hattie Hotpants, and 1/3 of the all Latinx performance trio Papaya Magic Cabaret with Dulce & Latina K. Turner D’Ho. She also collaborates musically and otherwise with many talented performers in the PNW!"

When I saw this former Candy on the burlesque stage for the first time it was at a Tassel Tuesday, in early 2017 I believe, just before she became official part of the group at that year's Icing on the Cake. I have seen Rainie Dae take the Olympia scene by storm with her thoughtful and intentional artistry. She has made me cry like a fool as the Statue and laugh like a hyena as Gaston, always giving me feels in the pants with her acts - maybe I am biased, but watching her on stage is an experience nobody should miss. I am delighted that she's back for this holiday show!

Oh, Olympia! I have fallen HARD in love with original founding member Momo La Vein as I'm sure you have, too. I remember that first time I saw her at the now defunct Jake's Amateur Strip Night, back in 2010 I'm pretty sure. I am constantly in awe of Momo's creativity and ability to translate ideas into dynamic and elegant performances, and thoughtful visual art and costuming.

LISTEN. I will NEVER forget that sweatsedo! This former member brings the weird, the wrong and the unexpected in a beautifully put together package. I was at that Vaudeville show and I could not get enough of his shenanigans! I was so thrilled when he officially joined us. His creativity knows no bounds!

"Bananas Foster loves flexing his creative muscle and loves getting weird on stage. Bananas caught the burlesque bug at aerial shows in Tacoma back in 2013. A year later he popped his cherry with his first solo act of burlesque at the Lord Franzannian's Vaudeville show and has never looked back since. From festivals to guest spots throughout the Pacific Northwest, a proud former member of Rock Candy Burlesque. Bananas is happy to be doing his first act of burlesque since the pandemic and first one in his 50’s. The Master of Moles, the Sultan of Skintags, it’s Bananas Foster!"

The first time I saw VenDetta Petty Kash D'Ho perform it was at The Sunday Night Shuga Shaq in 2018 where she fed me fried chicken as part of her act! That's when we unofficially met. Who would have imagined then the shenanigans we would be into together, from co-producing Mischief: A Melanated Variety Show back in the day to now co-hosting Azúcar - A Latine Cabaret Experience, to being proud Free Range Drag chickens, to being my Drag mentor under ; VenDetta is no stranger to the Rock Candy family, she's appeared at many Tassel Tuesdays. Now she calls Olympia home, where she actively and proudly contributes to our vibrant nightlife. But enough of my words, let VenDetta tell you more:

I saw Dulce perform for the first time at the Burlesque Lab recital in 2018. I was so enchanted by her thoughtful performance and stage presence I immediately knew I needed to 1) watch out for this rising star and 2) make sure I work with her at some point. I am now so very honored to have this award winning Cuban cutie in my artistic circle, and a one of my Papaya Magic Cabaret sisters! Dulce inspires me every day to bring my very best to the stage.

"Dulce has been serving face, fabric, and funk since her burlesque debut in 2018. She is a co-founding member of Papaya Magic Cabaret, an all-Latine burlesque troupe, and the owner of Silk Electric, where she creates custom silk veils, fans, and more! A former bellydancer, Dulce specializes in fluid movements and fabric manipulation.

"Dulce is a sought-after teacher both in the Pacific Northwest and online. She teaches weekly burlesque classes in her hometown of Olympia, WA, as well as specialty workshops in technique for silk veils, weighted veils, silk fans, and floorwork."

Our first local guest artist is none other than Luna DeLyte! I saw Luna perform the first time in 2019 at Tassel Tuesday. I can tell you this, I. Was. Not. Ready. I am honored to have shared so much space with this brilliant performer since: from both of us becoming board members of the Seattle Burlesque and Cabaret Co-op in 2020, being proud chickens to Free Range Drag, and both of us being accepted to compete for the first time at the most amazing festival, What the Funk An All BIPOC Burlesque Festival at the Triple Door in Seattle this year, where we had a rare opportunity to bond. Luna just had their burlesque anniversary last month, Olympia is damn lucky to have this weirdo in our roster!
