This client came to me with a sensitized barrier from Tretinoin. She was told that if this didn’t work for her the next option was Accutane.…and look where we were able to get her today, with NO Acne medications. 👏🏻 I am so so proud of her!!
Estheticians 🤝 Get to know me trends
Honestly I wouldn’t ever think to make an informative post on water, but recently I’ve seen a lot of claims that water in skincare is a filler ingredient which is a big claim! 🤠
I can understand why the idea of waterless skincare would be enticing, and it’s not that skincare that doesn’t have water is bad- it’s just that demonizing water as an ingredient doesn’t really make sense when it plays such a key role in product formulation. Water is known as the “universal solvent” because it can dissolve more substances (in the skincare world, ingredients) than any other liquid. For this reason, lines that choose to use other solvents, such as oils, would have limited ingredients to work with unless they chose to compromise the efficacy of the product.
She is wedding ready!! 🥹💍
Skin so glowy I swear I can see my reflection 🪞✨
2 years in business today- CRAZY! 🥹💕 I am so blessed to get to do what I love every day and work alongside such wonderful clients. God has truly been so kind to me. Thank you all so much for your support!!
Love a good progress picture ❣️
Face Reality’s cleansers are top tier - affordable without sacrificing quality 🤌🏻 Let me tell you about my favorites!
THE ULTRA GENTLE CLEANSER
Is gentle on the skin and VERY sudsy. 🫧 It has antioxidants such as Licorice, Mushroom, and Green Tea Leaf extract in it which are all anti-inflammatory. (Green Tea Leaf extract has shown to be anti-microbial as well!)
THE ANTIOXIDANT SCRUB
Has the same ingredients as the Ultra Gentle Cleanser plus cellulose beads, making it a gentle scrub that I keep on hand to treat stubborn non-inflamed acne.
THE L-MANDELIC WASH
Just like the Ultra Gentle Cleanser, the Mandelic Wash contains antioxidants such as Grape Seed Extract and Green Tea Leaf Extract. This also has a very small amount of Mandelic Acid to boost its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal benefits, while still being gentle enough to pair with other exfoliants.
I would give you a personal favorite but I honestly keep all 3 at home. 🤐 I have also ordered Face Reality’s new Barrier Balance Creamy Cleanser and am excited to try it out!
The best birthdays are the ones that include a spa treatment 🫧 (I don’t make the rules)
I have a lot of new followers, so I figured it was time to reintroduce myself! 💚
My name is Moriah and I have been a Licensed Esthetician since March of 2022! My interest in skincare started a few years ago after I gave up on prescription acne medications and decided to pursue a more holistic route. I now am able to help others on the same journey, and I love my job and my clients endlessly.
Here’s a few fun facts about me:
✨ I married my high school sweetheart, José, this June
✨ We have a cat named Weezer
✨ I’ve recently gotten into making sourdough at home
✨ I love the show Big Brother and get super into it every season
✨ I’m an Enneagram 4
✨ I’m 5’10
✨ I love alternative music and recently have been listening to a lot of Fleet Foxes, Lana Del Rey, Hatchie, and My Morning Jacket
Do we have anything in common? If so, I want to hear what!
What 5 months can do 🫶🏻
There is a trend getting a lot of buzz right now - foundations you can wear to sleep as they’re noncomedogenic, non irritating, and are “skincare”. Do I have an actual issue with these products? Not necessarily. (I don’t love makeup marketed this way as it’s easy to throw some low quality Vitamin C and Hyaluronic acid in it and call it skincare…but I digress.) The issue I have with it is the tidbit about sleeping in it.
The skin is the first barrier our body has to protect itself from things we don’t want to have too much contact with. Think pollutants, bacteria, dirt and grime. 🦠 When we wash our face at night, we’re cleansing off the oil/dirt/bacteria that can contribute to irritation and breakouts, as well as any pollutants sitting on the skin that cause free radical damage. Our skin repairs damage while we sleep, and although sleeping in makeup on the rare occasion won’t have much impact on our skin, making a habit of it will leave it vulnerable and further accelerate the aging process.
Aaaand if you’re sleeping in makeup I can assume you didn’t wash your face.
I understand that brands may not be explicitly encouraging people to sleep in their makeup every night, but marketing *does* work and there will 100% be consumers who will sleep in these products multiple times a week.
Moral of the story - wash and moisturize your face every night. Your skin will thank you. 🪩🕺
Antioxidants have so many benefits for both the skin + body! Focusing on eating more whole foods alone will increase the amount of antioxidants you are getting internally, and if aging gracefully is a concern of yours applying them topically as well will go a long way! 🍊
There are so many more benefits to antioxidants than listed (reduces risk of cancer and other diseases etc) that I didn’t want to go into as I don’t have any nutritional or medical credentials, although if you’re interested in healthy living I highly suggest researching it sometime!
Healthy lifestyle habits + a solid skincare routine works MAGIC 🪄 This client has been working with me alongside a Naturopathic Doctor in order to support her skin and body both internally and externally. I am beyond proud of her.
Some drugstore & high end foundation options for those who struggle with acne. 🫶🏻 Remember that these ingredients don’t effect everyone, but avoiding them can be a helpful tool in the acne clearing process!
Allllll the antioxidants🍓🫐🥝
Before > After routine + treatments > After 3 microneedling sessions
Can we appreciate the difference in both breakouts and acne scarring between the second and third picture? 🥹 Healthy skin RESPONDS to the proper treatment + products. I’m so proud of this client!
The snoopy shirt makes the post😌
A quick reminder that I will be out of office June 2nd-12th for my Wedding + Honeymoon. 🎉 If you’re needing to get in before then or stock up on product book on my site or shoot me a message!
Also, I attached a ring photo since my clients never get to see it. 😉
Rosacea-prone skin is often sensitive and easily irritated, so it’s essential to use gentle skincare products that won’t aggravate symptoms. Look for products free of fragrances, alcohol, and other potential irritants. This will go a long way toward symptom management!
I have multiple clients with Rosacea who have noticed results in less than a week from these 2 products. It’s truly amazing to see how far botanicals can go in skincare. 🌱
Mandelic Acid vs. Post-inflammatory Erythema 💥
(Spoiler alert…Mandelic acid wins)
Pores are normal and essential for the integrity of our skin barrier. 💚
If you believe you may have blackheads, or want to help reduce the appearance of sebaceous filaments I would love to help you get on a personalized routine!
As hard as it is to admit, I realized recently that I fear showing signs of aging. This industry is all about the skin, and I help clients treat and prevent fine lines/wrinkles, so would I even be taken seriously if I had any?
After some time and thought, I realized that although the desire to take care of my skin and body is healthy, when it becomes rooted in what others believe it quickly turns toxic. In the same way, I desire healthy glowy skin, but in times in my life where I’m focused on being good enough for others the want shifts from “healthy” to “perfect”. (And skin is always and will always be imperfect.)
The point of this post is not to shame anyone, as this is something almost all of us struggle with in some aspect. It’s what the media wants us to think. It’s what sells. The point of this post is to remind you that you are not alone in these struggles, and that there can be a healthy and unhealthy motive for seeking treatment. Healthy skin is possible, and treating skin concerns is possible. But if the end goal is lasting perfection, you will find yourself unsatisfied again and again.
Wearing sunscreen everyday seems daunting for many- but it doesn’t have to be!
I carry 5 different sunscreens so that every client can have one that meets their needs. Whether it’s a matte or dewy finish, tinted or untinted, mineral or chemical, or even one that doubles as a makeup primer…. I’ve got you. 😉
Post-pill acne is ABSOLUTELY manageable with healthy lifestyle changes alongside a routine that supports the skin!
So proud of this client for the patience she has had through the clearing process. Non-inflamed acne specifically takes more time and purging, and I’m honored that she trusted me through it. ❤️
Contrary to popular belief, not all peels actually make your skin peel! The peels I use in my Renewal Facial & Acne Treatments have little to no downtime, and can be done as frequently as every 2 weeks. (For most clients, coming in every 4-6 weeks is sufficient!)
Procell treatments create thousands of microchannels. In response to each microchannel, a healing process begins which initiates the formation of new collagen. Over time, the repeated healing process improves surface texture and over-all appearance of the skin.
The buy 2 treatments get one FREE is ending soon! The deal is valid through February. 💕
Inflammation wreaks havoc on the skin by damaging elastin and collagen fibers, which often results in acne scarring. This is one of the MANY reasons it should be treated first, as opposed to only treating the scarring and ignoring a root cause.
This is my fiancé who struggled with inflamed acne for years. Now that he is clear, we are doing a series of treatments to help with leftover scarring. ❤️
Exfoliants increase UV sensitivity, which in turn can cause hyperpigmentation (dark spots), create an impaired skin barrier, and can even accelerate breakdown of collagen and elastin. Daily sunscreen use, as well as reapplication, will give the skin the protection it needs so you can experience the benefits of an exfoliant without harming the health of the skin! ☀️
