Join us for October First Friday at Link Gallery + Workshop in the Blackstone Mansion! Link Gallery is excited to present Kally Malcom and Jennie Ziegler's exhibition, "Still-Wilds: Studying the Coastal Preserves of Northeast Florida." Stop by from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4 to see the exhibition and visit with Kally.

The main floor CommonSpace Gallery will feature photographs by Keegan Dunn.

What does it mean for a place to be felt or experienced as “wild” in contemporary times? This is the central question at the heart of "Still-Wilds," a collaborative project that pairs photographs and essays made in response to four protected areas in Northeast Florida: the Timucuan Ecological and Historical Preserve, the Guana River Wildlife Management Area, Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park, and the Webb Coastal Research Station.

Visual art and creative writing fill an imagination and communication gap that often exists between empirical science and the general public. As a professional artist and a professional writer, Kally Malcom and Jennie Ziegler offer a unique form of conservation advocacy that sparks inspiration through creative celebration--and communication--of our shrinking wild places.

Drop by the gallery on Friday, July 12th, 6-9 PM as we welcome Barbara Robins to Link Gallery and Workshop. She will be displaying cyanotype images from her series “Connecting”

“Connecting is about joyfully playing with negatives made in my youth and exploring some of the many images my grandmother made between 1920 – 1950. Ione Laisy learned photography from her father, and I learned non-silver methods from the eminent Betty Hahn during a semester of concentrated photographic study at U of New Mexico. I then completed my BFA in photography at U of Montana – Missoula. As life provides unexpected opportunities, I became a Native American literature specialist and have been teaching in the English Department at U of Nebraska at Omaha for 25 years. I am delighted to share my close-up texture studies from nature walks during my undergraduate days and some discoveries from my grandmother’s images. My goal was to select images to showcase the quirky, off-kilter humor that epitomizes my Laisy & Robins families and connect again with that youthful enthusiasm for experimentation.”

Join us this Friday for the opening of Mick Mancuso’s “Omaha Only”
This exhibition features portraits of local Omaha bands and musicians.
From the artist:
““Omaha Only” is a collection of local bands and musicians based in Omaha Nebraska. The bands featured in this body of work range in genre and style, but all share one genuine love for expressing themselves through the art of music.

I began “Omaha Only” in August of 2023 with the goal of shining a spotlight onto the often overlooked Omaha music scene. Additionally, I wanted to not only hone my skills as a photographer, but also provide a free service to bands that would greatly benefit from a photoshoot.

“Omaha Only” also serves as a documentation of these musicians; the love that they have for each other and the music that they play. Making cool s**t keeps the world turning.”

We will also have work by Thomas Detlefsen upstairs in the CommonSpace Gallery as well as Music by Jaden Woosley on the front porch
