First off, congratulations to Brandon and Alex Rhoades for their recent wedding. Brandon on the left in the photos and Alex on the right are the son and daughter-in-law of my lovely neighbors, the Janes', in Altoona. In my 40 years of being around firearms and firearm training I have personally never witnessed anything like I witnessed today. I can only explain it in one of four ways: 1) I was hustled. 2) Beginner's luck. 3) Australian women are fantastic first time shooters. The 4th possibility but least likely is my extraordinary instructor skills and my uncanny ability to sight in a rifle. I so badly want to say the latter is the case, though likely it is not. Alex Rhoades, is from Sidney Australia and she is visiting America for the first time to marry Brandon as I said earlier. She explains to me that she has never shot a gun in her life as Australia has some very restrictive gun laws. What I witnessed today was impressive, to say the least, and I'm glad that I captured some of it on video. I spent most of the morning today sighting in several guns and as most shooters know, you can only get so much out of a standard rifle by way of accuracy. Achieving a 1/4 MOA (minute of angle) is impressive especially when you are a brand new shooter. Mrs. Alex, from Australia did so well that myself, her husband, and my neighbor Dusty all three didn't even try to replicate the shots. I'll stop typing and let the video speak for itself. All I can say is wow, and welcome to Oneonta! I only wish that you were not going back to Australia and hope to get to see you shoot again one day soon. From the office of the Chief of Police

This video was taken from an Oneonta Patrol Officer's body cam during a significant structure fire in an apartment complex on Pocota Drive on July 3rd. I am very proud of these two fine young officers. They both acted quickly and decisively to prevent two citizens from certain injury or death. Officer Matthew Suddeth and Officer Cory Glasscock were recognized at the August 14th Oneonta City Council meeting for their heroic actions during this structure fire that occurred on July 3rd 2018. Watch the video and you will see the dedication of two very committed Oneonta Police Officers. From the Office of the Chief of Police
We wanted to share with you the results of a bird getting inside the building. Our sectary Stephanie is deathly afraid of birds and she was alone and managed to close it up in the Chiefs office until help could arrive. Needless to say, this bird was reeking havoc in the office. What you see is the heroic capture of this bird. The bird was not harmed in any way.
