Murphree Valley Volunteer Fire Department

MVFD founded in 1987,with 22 square miles of coverage they serve. Chief Michael Gunn has 22 members on the roster, and we are always accepting recruits!!

Our monthly business meeting is every 1st Monday of each month at 6:00 pm, and Training is every 3rd Saturday at 1:00 PM

MVFD has 6 mutual aid department, which include: Oneonta, Susan Moore, Snead, Straight Mountain, Altoona and Walnut Grove. Our Goal and Objectives

At 0509, Oneonta Fire was dispatched to 916 2nd Ave E for a possible structure fire at Burger King. Crews arrived on scene to find smoke showing from the building. An offensive attack was initiated and the fire was quickly extinguished. There were no injuries.

Advisory: Severe Weather Update

Dear Mike Gunn,

The NWS has released updated information on the upcoming severe weather threat for tomorrow. The updated graphics are attached.

We remain in a Flood Watch until Saturday afternoon, with this we could see up to 2 more inches of rain. The NWS has upgraded us to a Slight Risk for the majority of the county. Our potential hazards remain the same with the potential for a brief tornado and damaging winds. The timeline as of now for our area has just been listed as late morning through the afternoon.

Please remain weather aware and have multiple ways to recieve weather alerts. As always we will continue to provide you with updates as they come to us.

As the winter weather arrives this week, we want to remind everyone how to stay safe while heating your home!

🛌 Place space heaters 3-5 feet from combustible objects
🔌 Plug all heating appliances directly into wall outlets
♨️ Do not use stoves or ovens to heat homes
🕯 Do not leave candles/open flames unattended
🚨 Have working smoke alarms
