Child's bibles are nothing new. Featured here is an early example of a child's Bible in German from 1736, containing a few simple illustrations. It is apart of the Kuykendall Bible Collection, and can currently be viewed on display with other samples at the 2024 SBC Annual Meeting in Indianapolis.

It's not all Greek after all! This beautiful 1821 Greek Bible is was the authorized version of the Eastern Church. Containing both OT and NT, the former integrated Biblical Hebrew into the final product.

This well-read 1652 edition of Richard Baxter's Saints Everlasting Rest--printed during the author's own lifetime--is a rarity in that it contains the full and unabridged content. Courtesy the Kuykendall Bible Collection.

Famously, the KJV was partly a response to the notes associated with the Genevan Bible, which tended to be Calvinistic and used politically-stigmatized language, like "tyranny/tyrant." Ironically, this didn't stop the publishers of this edition from annexing the notes of the Genevan Bible to the KJV. Here you can see the famous 'tyrants' note from Exodus 2.

Sample manuscripts courtesy the Kuykendall Bible Collection. These are fascinating example of early Hebrew texts from varying Jewish stylistic traditions, indicated by differences in form and vowel pointings (or lack thereof!).

Today, from 12 noon until 12:45, we will be displaying a collection of Bibles donated by the Kuykendall family. Some of these Bibles date as back as the 1400s. If in the area, stop by and see these gems!
