Established in 2016, Miss Mayfly embarked on a journey to create a size inclusive line of women's fishing and wading gear. After experiencing the inequity in women’s options, the brand was compelled to innovate gear solutions that would fit women of all shapes and sizes. After two years of development, Mayfly did what no one else has done and launched the first line of wading gear owned by, designed by and made by women, for women.
Growing a brand requires endless work, investment and sacrifice. It took two years to develop a viable product and brand identity. Mayfly vested in the mission to Invent a new way of sizing that could fit the majority of women’s body shapes, accommodating the vast variable combinations of widths, heights and foot sizes. Against all odds, Mayfly succeeded, creating a line of waders that fit 96% of women’s bodies comfortably- not always perfectly, but comfortably, within just 13 sizes.
Prior to Miss Mayfly's existence, 65-70% of women were forced to wear ill fitting mens gear or they were forced to stay along the shore. In 2019 after not being able to obtain bank funding, Miss Mayfly's founder, Kim Ranalla was forced to take on an investor to fund mass production. Kim had to make the difficult decision to trade controlling shares in exchange for production and business funding. After three years under the partners control, Miss Mayfly's founder took a leap of faith and bought the company shares back from the partner, bringing it back under her control, gaining the freedom and power to build the brand that she had always dreamed of- the way it was intended to be.
On July 5, 2023, one day after our country's Independence Day celebration, Miss Mayfly celebrated our own day of independence, marking the date of this proud achievement on our calendar.
