Opelika City Schools Pre-K

OCS Pre-K students in Ms. Richards class enjoyed eating gingerbread cookies that they decorated. The OHS students led them on a gingerbread man hunt to also find cookies from the OHS culinary department.

Last week, Opelika City Schools Pre-K students had a fun day at the Fall Fest at the OHS farm. Our Education and Training students planned the activities, and our Agriscience students coordinated visits from community partners and took students on a hay ride. Thank you to all of our students and community partners for hosting such an awesome day for our students!

My Pajamas Have Llamas
OCS Pre-K had a special visitor today. Megan Cardone, author of "My Pajamas Have Llamas", came by to read to a few of our classes. She also donated a book to each class! Thank you Megan for coming to visit us today!

Mrs. Awbrey and Ms. Smith's class enjoyed wearing ties for letter T day!

Trick Or Treating and dry ice fun in Pre-K today 🧊🍬🍭🎃

TODAY, we learned all about FALL TRADITIONS! We had a chat about our traditions—the favorite being dressing up for Halloween. Then, we made our own T Chart and asked our friends which costume we should dress up in for the Dawg Walk tomorrow!🎃🐾 👻

TODAY, we made SpOoKy Peach Lemonade… We took turns squeezing juice from lemons and peaches. Ask me about the “special ingredients” we used!🧛🏻‍♂️🎃 👻

We have learned all about emotions this week, some are big and some are small! TODAY, we watched what happens when our emotions get really big—they explode! We talked about several ways that we can help our big emotions feel better like belly breathing and bubble breaths! Ask me all about it!

This week we’ve worked on story retelling, rhyming, and balance. It has been centered around our favorite “Jacks.”

TODAY, we learned all about how primary colors mix to make secondary colors. We created “color bridges” to mix red, blue, and yellow to make purple, orange, and green! While we waited for the colors to set in and mix, we tested our predictions by using crayons!

Just a reminder that Parent Orientation, which is Mandatory, is this Thursday, August 4 at 8:00, 12:00, 4:00, or 6:00. Just show up at one of those times and bring your child to meet their teacher. We are looking forward to meeting everyone.

Pre-K does not have a supply list. We provide all supplies. Your child will need a backpack, blanket for nap time, and an extra change of clothes. We are looking forward to meeting everyone August 4th for Mandatory Orientation and Meet Your Teacher!

FIELD DAY FUN 🌞

Tomorrow is Field Day! May sure your kids wear tennis shoes and dress for the weather, it will be hot! If you want your child to wear sunscreen, please put it on your child before they come to school, the teachers won’t have time to do it at school. Your child will be given a field day shirt in the morning to wear. Thank you! We are looking forward to a fun day!

Mrs. Bakers Education In Training students took each child’s creature design and made their creature for them! The kids were so excited to see their creature! This was such a fun surprise!

We love to celebrate our learning. One of our friends wanted to host a letter parade today, and we thought it was such an awesome idea. We worked on our letter recognition, writing and fine motor skills.

Miss Lee and Mrs. Escoe’s class is looking at our little baby sunflowers. The kids are loving seeing them grow.

OHS Education in Learning class is making little creatures that our own Pre-K kids designed themselves. We got to walk through Friday and see them working on their little creatures.

Pre-k had a very busy week! Thank you so much OHS Vibe for giving us a concert. I would say they loved it 😊 🎶

We want to thank ALL the teachers, but really want to thank our own Pre-K teachers! Thank you for all you do each and every day! You are greatly appreciated!
