REFERALS!!!!

This is a follow-up email to the announcement we made 4/10/24. Please be patient while we process and validate referral bonuses.

We understand you all are looking forward to your referral bonuses, but we have a large amount and we have to ensure all clients have been funded (meaning we have been paid our tax preparation fees) before we issue those referrals (please note if the person you referred did not receive their refund for whatever reason WE WILL NOT pay the referral until we are paid).

Please also remember this is a bonus program and not a required program and it's is 100% at our discretion. Although we love referrals and we are very thankful that you all were satisfied enough to refer your friends and family, we must ensure we dot all out i's and cross all our t's.

As stated in our last email, you can only receive a referral bonus for a referral ONE TIME. If you have previously referred someone and the return the next year, you WILL NOT BE PAID AGAIN! Also, if we discount their prep fee below $300 a referral bonus IS NOT PAID on that referral.

Lastly if the referral is in your same household such as a spouse, son, daughter, aunt, uncle etc and they reside with you or use the same address as you, that is not considered a referral unfortunately. BUT that will add an additional entry into our Christmas Customer Appreciation giveaway we do every year (more will be announced on that later in the year).

Just an fyi we will be sending out invoices soon to the one's who haven't funded or we haven't been paid for our services. We will be going all the way back to 2020. For tax years 2020, 2021 & 2022 if your invoices are NOT paid by December we will write the debt off as a bad debt and issue a 1099-C (cancelation of debt) and you must include that 1099-C when filing your taxes for the next filing year. For tax year 2023 we will give you all until next year to make the payment before we "cancel the debt" and issue a 1099-C. For additional information on what a 1099-C is and how it's reported to the IRS you may visit the IRS website at irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-1099-c (https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-1099-c)

As the Tax Season filing deadline is approaching, we have been flooded with phone calls asking about state returns/refunds. Listen we will have EVERYBODY'S filed by 04/15!! No need to call and "remind" us, we know what and when it needs to be filed! If we told you we were going to file at a later date, it will be filed. If you're owed a refund, it will come either Direct Deposit from the State or a paper check from the state DIRECTLY.

WE CAN NOT CONTROL HOW LONG IT TAKES THEM TO ISSUE A REFUND!

If you owe the state after we process the return, we will reach out to you via phone or email with instructions on how to pay.

REMEBER!! IF YOU DO NOT PAY FOR YOUR STATE, AND YOU OWE THEM YOU WILL NOT BE GETTING A CASH ADVANCE NEXT YEAR OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OBTAIN OUR CHRISTMAS LOAN.

So please if you owe the state PAY THEM FOLKS!!!

Lastly referrals! Listen ladies and gentlemen AGAIN you DO NOT have to call and "remind" us to pay you. We have a list. If the person you referred DID NOT list you as a referral WE WILL NOT be paying after the fact. Also, once you have referred them in a prior year, you do not keep getting paid every year they come! If you all continue to call and frustrate us again with this program, we will terminate it all together!

Again, you do NOT have to remind us, WE KNOW! We will start issuing referral bonuses AFTER tax season! If you have not received your referral by June 1st, 2024 then email us at [email protected] and we will look into it at that point. BUT if you call our office before then, we will be donating your referral bonus to The Erik&Eric Foundation's Scholarship Fund!

As summer is drawing nearer, we know you all have road trips, beach trips and girls’ trips planned this summer. Remember Platinum P's Luxury Rentals for your car rental needs. As you you all have seen or heard the IRS is cracking down on small businesses. Well, everybody in general. We have saw more audits and requests for information this year than any previous years, and it is only going to get worse.

A lot of our clients are self-employed or have side hustle to supplement their income. This is totally normal, or is it? The IRS and sates see this as a major red flag. It's a whole lot of people that utilize a Schedule C, D, E or F to either increase their income or decrease it. This is fraud!! Simple. It almost always throws a red flag to auditors in the IRS and the State Revenue departments. You have people like you who are legit and have small businesses, or side hustles, and you still are getting red flagged.

The IRS LOVES QuickBooks. They almost always accept a P&L statement from QuickBooks and move on. In the very unlikely event you get audited, if you have QuickBooks and you have been entering in your income and expenses correctly, when you submit your P&L statement the IRS accepts it and moves on.

With that being said, we have partnered with QuickBooks Accounting to offer you all a very unique and more safe option when filing these small businesses and side hustles.

We do most of the work for you. With QuickBooks all you have to do is connect your business bank account and it will automatically import all your transaction data into QuickBooks (don't have a business bank account? It works with your personal accounts too).

You're able to put each transaction into a category as to what type of transaction it is, simplifying expense and income tracking. It also has tools for you to keep track of your miles, service on vehicles as well as take pictures and store receipts. Even if you don't feel comfortable linking your bank account, you can still manually input income and expenses.

We are able to view your books in real time and we are able to help you keep track of taxes and future income and expenses. We will be able to consult with you to make sure you are staying tax compliant and to better your chances of never getting audited.

Now, I know it's going to be a lot of you all who are skeptical about this, or who are just not going to do it. I understand. Please understand that if you elect to not utilize this service and we have to build a P&L statement for you, it will be additional fees added to your tax prep as well as some fees that may have to be paid upfront depending on the amount of income and expenses we are having to recreate for you.
