SPENCER HELM AND FAMILY RECEPTION:

Dear Church Family,
 
I am writing to you today to share a “mixed blessing” regarding our staff team and the days ahead. Last Wednesday, Spencer Helm announced to the students that the Lord has called him to Christ Covenant Church in Atlanta, GA to be their new student pastor.
 
Why is this a “mixed blessing”?
 
The bad – Spencer and his family will be missed. Spencer has been our student pastor at First Baptist for 3 years. He has brought energy and exciting ministry / mission opportunities to our students during his tenure. I personally will miss him, his energy, and friendship.
 
The good – Spencer will be serving at Christ Covenant Church, https://christcovenant.com. This dynamic church plant is led by Pastor Jason Dees. Jason has not only been a friend of mine for around 15 years, but he was active at FBCO as a college student while attending Auburn University.
 
The immediate “blessing” —in the interim, Will Spivey will be serving as FBCO’s “point man” for student ministry as an extension of his role as the Next-Generation pastor. He and the student team have already started planning Life Groups, DNOW, Wednesday nights, and Summer Camp. We will miss Spencer, but our student ministry is not going to miss a beat!
 
Please join us Sunday, August 25 between 5:00-6:00 p.m. for a reception in The Well honoring Spencer and his family. It is bittersweet to see him leave FBCO, but we are excited to see how God will use him and his family in this new ministry opportunity.
