Today we lost a Frank Brown family member. RIck Whaley played a major role in the development of the festival. He literally landed on the shore from the Gulf many years ago and quickly became a fixture in both the festival and the main room at the Flora-Bama as well as other area venues. He was the ultimate entertainer; a great instrumentalist and vocalist as well as an accomplished songwriter. His easy going style entertained multitudes throughout his thousands of performances. But, more than that, he was a good friend to so many; both to those of us that interacted with him on a frequent basis as well as those that came to see him perform from time to time. The world was definitely a better place with his music and his love for those around him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sherri and Betty and we want them to know that although he is gone, he will never be forgotten.
