New pectus patients are often curious about how long the incisions will be after surgery. The incisions are typically about 2 -4 inches long and here is an example of one of our Pectus patients.

Our first Pectus multi- disciplinary clinic with our cardiologist, Dr. Renella, our pulmonologist, Dr. Kamath, and Pediatric Surgery team of Dr. Kabeer with Jackie Hurley. Our Pectus patients were excited to see the Pectus team all in one visit.

Many of our Pectus patients complain in the colder months of discomfort around their bars. That is because the metal bars may react differently to changing temperatures than the flesh around them. We suggest using a heating pad on the chest area for warmth and bundling up.

After the Nuss procedure, minimally-invasive repair of Pectus excavatum, it is best to sleep on your back for the first four weeks while recovering .

Samuel is our featured Pectus patient of the month.He is 3 months past his Nuss procedure and he’s excited to get back to Lacrosse and lifting weights! He is feeling better about sports now that he can keep up with his teammates. Congratulations to Samuel featured with his surgeon Dr. Kabeer.

Now that colder weather is upon us, patients sometimes complain that their chest feels colder. That is because metal gets cold easily. We recommend bundling up with extra warm clothing, and using a heating pad too, if necessary.

Haley is a Pectus patient that completed her Nuss procedure with cryoablation. She was actually the second one in her family to have Pectus surgery. She was so happy with the positive changes it made in her life that she has decided to pay it forward in her career path and plans to study to be a Pectus coordinator in order to help other Pectus patients.
