Orange Rotarians Take out the Trash
Seven members of the Rotary Club of Orange VA participated in Orange County, Virginia's Volunteer Trash Pickup Program www.orangecountyva.gov on Saturday, September 7 to raise money for the 2024 Orange Rotary Christmas Parade www.orangerotaryva.org
Working Lake Orange Road and a portion of Lahore Road, Rotarians Martha Roby, Joan McGregor, Alan Drinkwater, Curtis Clark, Joe O'Donnell, Eric Paltell and Pat McAloon learned a lot about putting service above self and a little about the consumption habits of some of those who have driven through the area.
Filling twenty-six large garbage bags, some of the top "finds" that day included water bottles, beer cans, energy drinks, not-water in water bottles, part of a car bumper, a license plate, a Styrofoam cooler, empty packages of supermarket chicken, an unseen but smelly deceased animal in a supermarket bag, a termite colony, and numerous 50ml bottles of Fireball.
Rotarian Eric Paltell found a pocketbook, which was turned into the Orange County Emergency Management office for returning to its owner.
If you are interested in what the Rotary Club of Orange Va does, please join us for one of our Tuesday morning meetings.

Rotary Club of Orange, VA welcomed Amelia Stansell, Rotary District Governor (DG) for Rotary District 7610 was our guest speaker, bringing her enthusiastic personality to our early morning meeting. We were all on the edge of our seats as she spoke about this year’s dual themes. The DG theme of "Irresistible" and the Rotary International (RI) theme of "The Magic of Rotary," both inspired by RI President Stephanie Urchick. When asked “What makes the Rotary Club of Orange “irresistible” many Rotarians gave uplifting and motivating answers. Sharing their experiences on what makes Orange Rotary “Irresistible.” Our aim is to share The Magic of Rotary with the Orange community, from participating in community projects, scholarships for Orange County students, organizing the annual Christmas parade and many outreach projects to those in need. Our club experience is both engaging for members and our community, making Rotary Club of Orange “Irresistible!”
