This semester, I started an internship working on a wildlife documentary. While I did not necessarily see myself working in film, this incredible opportunity came my way and I knew it would be silly to turn it down. As an intern, I research and write reports for the documentary, and primarily spend a lot of time transcribing interviews or different segments of footage. My internship is 100% remote, so I also spend a fair amount of time hopping on meetings with my team. The internship has been one of my favorite parts of my Chapman experience, and I would highly recommend pursuing an internship to anyone looking to expand their personal skill-set.

My favorite part of being involved in Chapman’s School of Communication is . I joined Chapman Radio at the start of the Spring semester, and I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. It has always been a dream of mine to host a radio show, and Chapman Radio has not only given me an outlet to share the music I love, but also talk about the music I love, and what makes it so special. Chapman Radio is also so lucky to have such an amazing faculty advisor, Travis Bartosh, leading the way, accompanied by a very supportive staff. For anyone who has ever wanted to do radio, Chapman Radio is a must. And for all the listeners, make sure to tune in to Harry’s Road Radio at 11 AM on Wednesdays.

2nd Post: As I mentioned in my first post, music is my passion and at Chapman I have continued to perform. I play guitar in the Chapman Jams ensemble, play gigs with my band or friends, and have made new buddies to jam with in my free time here. Maybe you’ve even seen me in the piazza playing Grateful Dead tunes on Monday afternoons. But the biggest thing I have learned playing music with new people at Chapman, how to communicate in new ways. The nature of the music I love to play is largely improvisational, and due to this “un-scripted” brand of music, I have to listen to others closer than ever before. This translates to my daily life, as well as what I have learned inside the classroom: the benefits of listening not only impact the other, but also unlock your own greatest potential. In music and in communication, when we listen, we learn, and when we listen, we grow. Listening, not hearing, has led me to play some of the best music I have played in my life, as well as develop my communication skills to be more effective than ever.

Hello School of Communication. My name is Harry Sera, and I am a current freshman here at Chapman University. I am a Communication Studies major and Music Business minor and it is my dream to pursue a career in the live music industry. To tell you a little bit about myself, I hail from Thousand Oaks, California, and I’m very passionate about music and entertainment. I even host my own music podcast and play in several different groups. I’ve loved my time here at Chapman so far, and am looking forward to the rest of what is in store for me.

This past semester, I have had the opportunity to work as a Digital Content Creator for a reality TV star/social media influencer and Chapman alum, . Through this role, I have been able to have a complete hands-on experience in learning personal branding and content creation. Some of my responsibilities within this job consist of creating weekly trend forecasts to come up with content ideas that will perform well, creating, editing, and delivering digital content, analyzing TikTok analytics to evaluate and elevate content, and performing audits to present to Blue. This has been an incredible internship, and the work is not just confined to sitting behind a computer - Blue’s other intern and I have received invitations to tag along with her to influencer/networking events, fashion shows, and personal store collaborations in Los Angeles! This has been a fantastic job to complement my interest in the media industry, and I have loved having this to apply my learnings from my Communication classes to!

Getting to the Heart of Mother-Daughter Communication | Chapman Newsroom In Michelle Miller-Day’s class, Chapman University students use the tools of communication study to gain insights about their moms and themselves.

During my internship at Butterfly Social Media, I have been given so many amazing opportunities. My internship is hybrid, once every week or two weeks I meet with my boss at an event or a meeting to learn more about marketing. So far I have done one event with her, where we go to a restaurant and we have the opportunity to taste, photograph, video, and critique the food. I take notes at the tasting and then turn them into article form and send it to my boss to make an article out of. Remotely, every day I check the Cuisine and travel page, post recipes and share them in Facebook groups. SoC really helped prepare me for this internship because as in many industries, it is based solely on good and effective communication. Thanks for following along! DM me with any questions! .wendt12
