These 14 students met the rigorous reclassification criteria to show that they are proficient in English. To reclassify a student must excel on the ELPAC test, meet their grade level Lexile requirement, show grade level achievement on their report card, and have teacher and parent approval!

This year, Palmyra GATE Magnet, started our first ever eSports After School Enrichment Club led by Mrs. Campbell. eSports, short for electronic sports, is a form of competitive video gaming where individuals or teams compete against each other in organized tournaments. Our competitions featured popular games such as “Mario Kart” and “Super Smash Bros.” Our eSports club was offered to 4th-6th Grade students. On our last meeting of the year, our team “The Golden Dragons”, participated in a tournament. The winner of our tournament was Stacey Sanchez, 6th Grade Student, and our club’s President. 🎮🐴💙❤️

An esports club can help develop core values like teamwork by fostering collaboration and communication among members during gameplay. It promotes digital citizenship by educating members on responsible online behavior. Respect is encouraged through sportsmanship towards teammates and opponents. Responsibility is instilled by requiring members to fulfill commitments to the team and devices. Patience is learned through the process of skill development and facing challenges. Overall, our esports club provided an environment for students to cultivate essential life skills while enjoying competitive gaming.

🍊 OUSD Retirement Event - Lynn Irving our wonderful Inclusion Aide will be leaving us at the end of the year. We will miss her and all she offered our students. Mrs Pollok will also be retiring. She was unable to make this event. We wish both our Palmyra Pinto Staff members the best in their future life of retirement.  💙❤️🐴
