Becky Holiday- Pole vault
It didn’t take Becky Holliday long to place her stamp among track and field’s elite as she played a role in the emergence of the women’s pole vault from its infancy at U of O into a collegiate record holder. She honed her talents in her specialty before joining the Ducks from Clackamas Community College, finishing seventh in the World University Games in Beijing in 2001. As a senior, the 2003 NCAA Indoor Championship runner-up proceeded to claim outdoor pole vault titles at the Pac-10 (setting a conference meet record) and NCAA levels and set the collegiate record of 14-8. Following her collegiate career, the seven-time U.S. Championship medalist placed second at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene before finishing ninth in the Olympic Games in London.

David Daniels- Men’s basketball
A native of British Columbia, Canada, David Daniels moved to the U.S. early in life and attended high school in Oregon. A passion for basketball took him to Clackamas Community College the following fall, and two years later Dave transferred to Colorado Christian University. His experience as a player culminated at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, where he represented Canada on their national team.

Matt Lindland - Wrestling
As one of the founders of Team Quest MMA in Portland, Coach Matt Lindland is one of the world’s most renowned and respected coaches in wrestling and MMA. He attended Clackamas Community College and won a NJCAA National title before matriculating to the University of Nebraska where he went 33-1 his senior year and won the Big 8 title. That same year Matt won a freestyle National Title at the University Level. Matt made his first World Team in 1997 and kept his No.1 spot on the U.S. team he retired from wrestling after he won the Olympic Silver medal and World medal in 2001.

Lisa Frances Ondieki - Marathon
Lisa Frances Ondieki is an Australian former long-distance runner with CCC roots. In the marathon, she won the 1988 Olympic silver medal and two Commonwealth Games gold medals. Other marathon victories included the 1988 Osaka International Ladies Marathon and the 1992 New York City Marathon. She also won the Great North Run Half Marathon three times. Her best time for the marathon of 2:23:51, set in 1988, made her the fourth-fastest female marathon runner in history at the time.

CCC Olympian spotlight!
Brian Abshire - Steeplechase
CCC alum Brian Abshire was a middle-distance runner mostly known for the steeplechase. He competed at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, making the semi-finals. Abshire had won the event that year at the U.S. Olympic Trials. He also won a bronze medal in the steeple at the 1987 Pan Americans. He was second in the event at the 1987 and 1989 U.S. Championships and third in 1990.
Abshire started at Clackamas Community College and then transferred to Auburn University where he was twice an All-American in cross-country, an All-American indoors in the 3,000 meters, and a two-time All-American in the steeplechase.

Clackamas Community College is hosting NW Cyber Camp, a unique opportunity for high school students to explore the exciting world of cybersecurity – for free.
Camp curriculum development is led by Oregon State University cybersecurity experts and designed for students of all skill levels. Instruction includes core concepts in cybersecurity fundamentals, as well as more advanced topics for students with prior experience.
NW Cyber Camp runs July 29-Aug. 1, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Holden Industrial Technology Center on the Oregon City campus.

The Clackamas Print student newspaper brings home gold!! CCC student journalists won 11 awards in the 2024 Oregon Collegiate Newspaper Contest.
