Good morning community! As I reflect on this week, words can't fully convey the immense gratitude I feel towards Ms. Glory and Shari-Fa for giving a real therapist like me a mic and a platform to speak on the unreconciled horrors and atrocities that continue to plague our "modern" day society!

Y'all already know what it is a brotha out here in these Utah streets ten toes down in solidarity with my community! Periodt!

Good morning community, I wanted to highlight the upcoming Psychedelics 101 event being hosted by Black Physicians of Utah & Numinus. Stormey Nielsen is one of the panelists and y'all know she for the culture!

This event is intended to help reintroduce an ancestral way of healing that has been inaccessible to the Black community for decades due to colonization, systemic oppression, etc.

Two Brothas Counseling is fortunate to be based in the beautiful mountains of Utah. While we are appreciative of the physical landscape of our mountain home, we are aware that the social and religious landscape can be less attractive for many. This weekend, as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints convenes for General Conference, we recognize that some of the messages may create hurt and harm for members of the LGBTQ+ community and others. As has been our tradition since we started in 2022, Two Brothas Counseling will be have a therapist available throughout the weekend for those who need support. Our on-call therapist can be reached by calling or texting 801-885-6577.

I find myself in a reverent space of immense gratitude and joy for receiving the news from Tekulvē Jackson-Vann and verifying it through DOPL that I have finally become a Fully Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist within the State of Utah.

To be honest, after the dehumanization, devaluation, and degradation I endured while completing my postgraduate degree from 2018-2020 and the explicit and implicit anti-BIPOC transgression I endured at my previous place of employment from 2020-2022 I almost gave up and spiraled into a deep sense of hopelessness, helplessness, and powerlessness.

Thankfully I had a community of people who loved on me, who cared for me, and held space for the totality of my humanity which has led to where I am today. I wouldn't be here today without you my community! Nothing but Love, Peace, and Prosperity!!!

As we near the end of our second year in operation, we would like to announce some exciting changes at Two Brothas Counseling. After serving as Clinical Director and Chief Clinical Officer for the past two years, our founding clinician, Jay Tekulvē Jackson-Vann, will be transitioning to another role within Two Brothas Counseling effective January 1, 2024.
As such, we are excited to announce that, effective January 1, 2024, Greg Noel, LAMFT will begin his tenure as Interim Clinical Director of Two Brothas Counseling. We have watched Greg do amazing things in our Ogden Clinic, and we look forward to his leadership taking all of our clinics into the new year. Congratulations, Greg!

I would be remiss if I didn't take the time to express my gratitude to Black Physicians of Utah for providing me the opportunity to support their initiative of creating intentional spaces of restoration & transformation for Black men & women within the state of Utah.

Just last year I was repeatedly told that my purpose-driven passion for elevating the holistic well-being of my community was "not industry standard" and "not best practices". Well, my community begs to differ!!!

of course, I couldn't have done it without Two Brothas Counseling and Project Success Coalition, Inc., this entire year has been the true definition of Doing the Work (DTW)!

Hey, Friends! I need your help. My best friend’s family dog, Ginger, was hit in our neighborhood today. Though stable, Ginger will need surgery. She’s more than a pet. She’s a much needed companion for a kid on the Autism spectrum, and she’s one of a few dogs that I’ve actually welcomed into my home (yeah, she’s that special). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It has been brought to our attention that Skyridge High School in the Alpine School District in Utah County has banned and removed all flags and other symbols of LGBTQ+ students and culture. As a result, many students, in pain, have organized a silent protest and walkout. Two Brothas Counseling will be organizing a support group via Zoom for tomorrow, Saturday, March 24. Due to the nature of the harm and the need to recreate a safe space, those wishing to attend will need to contact us directly at [email protected] for meeting information. Our q***r kids need us now more than ever.

Every Thursday this month, our guests will be sharing inspiring messages for Black History month. A huge shout out to Rah Freestone, A • R • I • S • E • R for helping us organize it. Tonight at 7PM MST, our first guest is Jay Tekulve Jackson-Vann, LMFT starting us off with "Celebrating Black History and Making Mormon History".

Tekulvē Jackson-Vann is a Licensed Marriage & Family and Certified Family Life Educator. He, along with some of his friends, recently had their stories of faith published in "My Lord, He Calls Me: Stories of Faith by Black American Latter-day Saints." He, his mother, and sister were baptized into the Milledgeville, Georgia Ward on January 30, 1990. He is a former missionary in the Michigan Lansing Mission, Young Men's President of the LDS Genesis Group, and Temple Ordinance Worker in the Oquirrh Mountain and Payson Utah Temples. He is the father of five and is anxiously awaiting the arrival of his first grandchild. He resides in Spanish Fork, Utah.

On Sunday, November 20, 2022, Club Q, in Colorado Springs, CO, had planned a Drag Brunch in honor of Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day honoring the lives of our trans brothers and sisters who have lost their lives to anti-trans violence. Instead, Club Q will be closed today as a result of the horrific act of violence which occurred late Saturday night and into the early morning hours of Sunday.

As a member of the Q***r and Mental Health communities in Colorado, Two Brothas Counseling extends our deepest sympathies to the individuals and families impacted by this tragedy. No matter the shooter’s motive or intent, the impact of his cowardly act is the same. To the brave individuals who decided in that moment to take back their safety, thank you for preventing additional loss of lives.

To the Q***r Community of Colorado Springs and the state of Colorado, we love you and are here for you.
