FEAST OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
December 8
Gospel: (Luke 1:26-38)
The angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary. And he said to her, “Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you…Do not be afraid, Mary for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus…The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the most high will overshadow you. Therefore, the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age…for nothing is impossible for God.” Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.”

Weekly Reflection
It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago is once again helping provide toys for children in Cook and Lake Counties with our Annual Toy Drive.
We have several families who are in need this holiday season on top of the many children throughout Cook and Lake counties whose families are counting on us for sharing the Christmas spirit. We really could use your help.
Our Annual Toy drive is currently underway now through December 12. We are in need of toys that are brand new and unwrapped for children of all ages (especially teenagers!). We have St. Vincent de Paul employees collecting toy donations at their homes as well as our thrift stores collecting toys (see graphic for address closest to you).
Last year, our special St. Vincent de Paul Santa hand delivered toy donations to our Friends in Need, and from personal experience, seeing the Christmas magic come alive in children’s eyes is truly indescribable.
We truly appreciate your help. Please help us continue serving those in need in Cook and Lake Counties and bring a little extra Christmas cheer into these family’s homes. Merry Christmas and God Bless.
Shop SVDP Orland Park this week and see what you can discover! We have a wide selection of furniture items in stock and on sale for 40% off! Sales end Sunday, December 10th.
FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT
December 3, 2023
Gospel: (Mark 13:33-37)
Jesus said to his disciples: “Be watchful! Be alert. You do not know when the time will come. It is like a man traveling abroad. He leaves home and places his servants in charge, each with his own work; and he orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch. Watch therefore; you do not know when the lord of the house is coming, whether in the evening, or at midnight, or at c**k crow, or in the morning . May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to all:Watch!”
Stop in this weekend and find that special something you've been searching for! We have new items arriving at our store daily! Shop SVDP Orland Park and know that the proceeds from every item you purchase support local neighbors in need.
Looking for something shiny and bright to show off your holiday spirit? Stop in at SVdP Orland Park Thrift Store and check out our festive jewelry and accessories!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

For every dollar you donate, our donor will match up to $1000. So our first $1000 in donations will be doubled and we will get $2000! This is just incredible news!
