I was inspired by masonry keystone arches and was challenged to find a way to merge that with 4 table legs. I’m pleased to see it so well balanced.

I was honored to have my work showcased in a presentation at the DHI conNextions door and hardware conference in Pittsburgh. This is the only conference serving the non-residential door and hardware industry in North America. During a presentation by Matthew Preston featuring “monumental doors”, one of my recent projects was highlighted and I shared insight into the complexities of the design, build and installation of a massive door.

How do you install your pivot door?!

Custom built ramp over entryway steps for hand truck wheels to roll smoothly. Custom built winch bracket over header to offset lift point for easy transition into floor plate. Custom built trailer for easy unloading of door. Custom built pivot door for clients exact vision!

Ripping 15ft long boards with the TS75 on the track saw, sanding perfect 90 degree edges with the sanding guide, routing slots for weather seals with the OF1440, joining the frame with the DF 700 Domino and so much more! And of course keeping the shop nearly dust free with the CT 48.

Thanks to G-Flex resin I am able to build a 5ft x 15ft door that will be warp resistant and will survive Florida’s harsh weather.

It’s the perfect viscosity for this type of glue-up and had plenty of working time.

Sweet little Charles “Charlie” Wesley Blackwell came into the world on June 5th. Healthy and happy and loves to sleep! Praise the Lord we have no concerns with his development even though he came 3 weeks early. Yes! Quite the surprise!
Unfortunately mommy isn’t doing so great. There was some significant trauma during birth so her recovery will be slow especially since she also has bronchitis and sinusitis. The rest of us weren’t really affected and are currently fine but Laura just couldn’t fight it off as fast. Please pray she heals quickly and without too much suffering.

All my wood is sustainably harvested in Costa Rica. Kiln dried in a solar oven and felled during a waning moon at low tide! All this creates a superior wood that will last for generations!

Rubio Monocoat applied in three stages. Fumed, Pre-Color Nordic White, 2C Light Grey with a splash of Monsoon Grey.

So happy to finally know! God has blessed us with a healthy boy and we expect him to be born on June 24, 2022!

This sweet little bench really showcases the exotic teak I source from Costa Rica! The color variation is due to the volcanic soil and heavy rainy season! I hand select each tree. Some have knots, bends and others are totally clear, grade A! I particularly love the funky ones like this!

As always, it’s not so pretty when it starts, but it sure is awesome to watch it evolve into something beautiful.

One of the last slabs from the 2017 Hurricane Nate out of Costa Rica!! What started as 138” ended up as a 96” x 52” table top.

Filled the crack with black charcoal epoxy for a matte finish to match the Rubio Monocoat sheen.

Wire brushed the live edge to bring out the texture of the grain. Looks great with shadows cast from above lighting!
