Today is our bassist/death vocalist/co-founder Julian Umbergers Birthday. Please join us in celebrating and show him some love!

Well,my love...we did it. We survived our first year without your physical presence. I say your physical presence because there hasn't been a single moment of these long 365 days that we haven't felt your love and light.
Every Birthday, Holiday, and Anniversary...we survived by the love,support, and shared grief of our friends and family. They loved Rain and I through our anger,our tears,and accepted us wherever we were at and for that I am eternally grateful.
For the first 9 months I lived in a fog,on autopilot only able to do what was needed for our baby girl to feel safe,loved, and to learn how to navigate this world without you in it. She has been so brave and resilient and despite her ache of missing you, she is thriving and learning to deal with her big emotions in a healthy way. That is the best gift I can give to her and to honor you. Once she is good,I promise I will work on me too because I know you want that for all of us...to live our best life.
I feel silly commemorating the anniversary of losing you because surviving this first year without you doesn't make our grief magically vanish and it's the anniversary of the worst day of our lives. We will always feel the weight of your absence. We will always miss your laugh,your silly smiles and facial expressions, the sound of you and the band rehearsing in the studio, your pacing back and forth composing songs in your head, and all of the day to day things that made you you and made us love you so fiercely.
But it also does not seem right to let this day go by unobserved. It is the day that you left this world and our lives were forever changed. The day that our world went dark because your light was no longer in it. All of our hopes,dreams,and plans changed in the blink of an eye. And every memory without you in it, every first without you here to share it feels like a step further away from you so we carry you in our hearts and begrudgingly keep putting one foot in front of the other into our new life knowing that one day it won't hurt as much while also knowing there is nothing in this world that can or will fill the hole that your absence has left in our hearts and lives.
Thank you for loving me. It wasn't long enough, but it was enough to last a lifetime and I am forever changed because of you.
