Our depart got some great donations today. Zack Fogelman, Mike Weinkauf and Josh Fogelman attended the 130th State Firefighters convention and won these great door prizes. Then donated them to the station.

Our Training/Safety Officer Delon Holmes attended this great class this weekend great opportunity to help us better our skills throughout the department

Several members of our department attended this class for Logan County Firefighters yesterday. We are grateful for the opportunity to train and learn new skills with our fellow Logan County Firefighters.

Busy afternoon for OVFD mutual aide from Mulhall Volunteer Fire Department Marshall Volunteer Fire Department Rock Township Fire Department Crescent Volunteer Fire Department, OK we requested Coyle Volunteer Fire Department and Langston Volunteer Fire Department but canceled them before they arrived on scene. We are blessed to have such great departments to call upon when needed

This morning we responded to a dumpster fire. Quickly extinguished by are personel.

Day two of our training this weekend Firefighters Lane Blankinship and Zach Fogelman attended Wildland Fundamentals this weekend Chief Weinkauf and Battalion Chief Josh Fogelman attended New Fire Chief's Training class. We are grateful to OSUFST and Kiamichi Technology Center at Atoka for putting on this great school.

We want to thank all the departments who help us today on our grass fire West of town. We were faced with rough terrain soft ground and uneasy excess on the fire ground. After yesterdays fire over by Mulhall it was brought to our attention by the fabulous lady’s that brought our rehab unit out that nobody approached it or used any of the necessities out of it. Probably due to markings on the rig. So we’re making this post so everyone is aware. If you see this rig out on any of the fires we are on do not hesitate to take what you need. If it is on scene it will be stocked with cold beverages, all sorts of snacks, and an assortment of medical supplies. It is also used to cool down any crew members due to the heat. So please feel free to use it like it’s yours. And please feel free to share this post. After a very productive week of fighting fire (so far) all of the Orlando trucks that have been on the front lines (and the ones that haven’t been) have been cleaned, repaired, and made ready for whatever comes our way next, rest assured when hell comes your way we willingly push back on the beast.

It’s still very early in the fire season and we encourage the upmost fire safety when doing any burning, welding, or anything that might cause a wildfire! If you see or smell smoke call 911!

We were fortunate enough to receive the 80/20 grant from Oklahoma Forestry Services last year to build a small office to store our electronic devices in a controlled environment and to provide a place to do paperwork. For years all we had was a desk in the apparatus bay which could be challenging in the summer time. We have finally completed the project and we are pleased with the outcome. We want to thank them for providing this valuable resource for the Volunteer Fire Departments in the state

Have you ever wondered why fire trucks park the way they do on roadways? You can see here how smaller lighter units can safely sit in their shadow being protected from oncoming traffic. A big part of our job is scene protection and big trucks are perfect to provide a level of safety.

Thank you to and NVFC1 for the generous donation of canned drinking water! And thank you to -Bush OKC for taking the time to deliver the water to our fire station. The water will help keep our responders safe and hydrated while they battle wildfires and respond to long incidents in extreme heat.
