Herons Llyn Farm

Thicket and Riffle back on the table for tomorrow . I’ll be there 10-2! Huge stock of bulky handspun- perfect for whipping up a quick holiday present!
New native plant embroidery kits. Each one of these wildflowers was designed and drawn by me and made in partnership with Vermont Wetland Plants, here in Orwell. The kits now come with the design on a dissolvable embroidery sticker which gives you flexibility if you would rather embroidery on something else! Will drop on the website tomorrow!
A study in poor time management- my Shetland wool week hat…finished as the plane wheels hit the runway in the US on the way back. Oh well. The colors are all from natural dyes, dyed on a base of Shetland wool. A little mix of Vermont and Shetland.
Hello! Took a bit of a leave of absence to head up to Shetland for wool week! I’ve got so much inspiration, new pattern ideas and amazing memories from being in a place that has such a rich tradition of knitting, small farms and creativity. Not to mention the people were friendly, funny and kind. I’ll be back at the Rutland farmers market this Saturday and I’ll be posting my fall class schedule soon on my site, but it’s already up on website.
Really love my new display set up! Come see me at the Washington county fairgrounds today (9/22) or most Saturdays at the in Rutland!
If you haven’t had a chance to take one of my shibori classes and you live in the Rutland area I am holding another one this Saturday at sign up is on their website. Bring 2-3 items of light colored clothing made of natural fibers to create your beautiful shibori patterns on! https://kaleidoscopeartsupply.square.site/
Free! Back to School Mending Open Workshop tomorrow! If you have a pile of mending that needs to be done before the fall hits, come by to 5-8 tomorrow. No need to be a reclaimed member. Feel free to drop in for a few minuets just to zip up a seam on the sewing machine or stay for the whole time and get all your mending done! Sewing machines will be set up, materials for mending and patches will be provided and I’ll be around if you get stuck or just need an extra hand. Tea and cold drinks will be provided, bring your own cup/mug if you can! (Suggested donation $5 to cover studio space expense but seriously there is no obligation!)
Website update! I’ve reorganized the shopping section of the site so you can see all my colorways as individual pictures to compare and contrast rather than using the drop down. I’ve also made some changes to the yardage- from now on, all my full sized skeins will be 150 yards for both bulky and worsted weights. That’s up from 100 yard and 125 yards respectively. I’ve upped the price for the bulky by $3 (since it’s now 50% bigger) but the worsted weight price has stayed the same. So now you can the
Just finished up a few more of these beauties! I make them out of the discarded coffee bean bags that coffee roasters get, wash them and over dye them with indigo. Since it’s natural fiber it picks up the indigo in a really cool mottled pattern. And of course I keep the coffee bag labeling on the outside because I think it looks pretty cool
Vermont Maple Leaf embroidery kits are in stock! These kits feature 3 handspun embroidery wool skeins dyed with natural dyes from wool sourced right here at the farm! These beginner crewel work kits are a great way to keep a little of Vermont with you and has everything (besides maybe a pair of scissors) that you need to complete the project! Kit includes instructions, embroidery hoop, 100% Irish linen embroidery cloth with pattern, needle, 1 skein of black wool and 2 skeins of fall colored wool. Each kit is slightly different so you will get two fall colors picked at random but they will be colors found on changing sugar maple leaves in the fall🍁!
Made the paper! Come see us at the Rutland Farmers Market every Saturday from 10-2 (Howe center until Mother’s Day weekend then it moves to the parking lot in front of the Walmart in Rutland after that!)

Hey folks, we wont be at the Vermont Farmers Market next week (2/24), but we will see you the week after that!
A little gratuitous Ireland post for (admittedly belated) St. Gobnait’s Day. St. Gobnait was a 6th century Irish saint know for her healing abilities and her beekeeping and is considered the patron saint of beekeepers and ironworkers. It was said that she once drove off a cattle stealing bandit by sending a swarm of bees after him and was said to use honey to heal the sick. Her saints day is February 11th. This picture is looking out towards the Aran Islands which is one of the places significant to her in Ireland.
A little greenery for Brigid’s day!
