Today we've taken in 13 kittens already.
7 were found in a cardboard box, which had half disintegrated in the rain, in a local park.
6 were in a cardboard box that was left on a volunteer's doorstep.
This is heartbreaking to us, because of what these little ones had to endure. Luckily, kind people rescued them and brought them to us.
They are all safe now at the shelter, but the shelter is no place for tiny kittens...and most of our foster homes are already full with other kittens...
How can you help? Please consider fostering kittens! Learn more here: https://www.oahs.org/foster/
We also still really need canned kitten and dry kitten food! Any brand canned, and we appreciate Purina One or Purina Pro Plan dry food! You can send us some from our Amazon Wish List here: amzn.to/4aE6oV3
Thank you for helping us help them!

It's and we'd like you to meet Wiggles!
This handsome boy has been waiting 136 days at the shelter for someone to take a chance on him...
You see, we don't know what happened to Wiggles before he arrived here. He is very sensitive, and wary of strangers...he may have been abused in his past life :(
However, with time, he trusts you, and then falls MADLY IN LOVE with you and bonds very closely...as you can see, he is head over heels for Rian, who he shares an office with.
We need someone to give Wiggles a chance...with time and patience, you will be rewarded with years of joy, laughter, and unconditional love!

How do our dog guests beat the heat? Some enjoy the kiddie pools, some, like Elizabeth, enjoy a good dig in the sandbox and Hershey prefers to dig in the toy box for that just-right toy! If you haven’t checked out our available dogs, now is the time. Our kennels are full of pawesome dogs waiting for their new families to discover them!
Farnsworth is hoping some nice people out there will donate canned (or packets) of kitten food because kitten season is in full swing and we are getting in new kittens almost every day.
Please consider donating any brand of kitten-specific canned or packaged wet food for our many many meowths to feed!
You can drop off donations during our regular hours or have them shipped directly through our online kitten registry list! Link in comments.
Thank you for helping us help them during our busiest time of the year!
Lenny isn’t sure what happened to this cat. Meanwhile his sister Rue discovered the joys of kiddie pools! Lenny and Rue are two young pups available for adoption right now. If you have the time and patience to help a cute puppy turn into an awesome adult, then take a look at Rue or Lenny!

Did you know that "wild-looking" domestic bunnies that look like our Wisconsin native cotton tail bunnies, are often some of our longer term guests at the shelter and are more overlooked?
REW (red-eyed-white) bunnies are also overlooked because people often think the ruby eyes are spooky. We think they're beautiful!
All 3 of our buns currently available for adoption at OAHS fit these descriptions. But they don't seem to let this bother them, as all 3 are very outgoing and loving buns!
If you are considering adopting a bun (or two), they might be the ones for you!
If you are interested in adopting Joyce or Merino & Cashmere, please contact Sarah at [email protected]. You can also stop in to meet them during our visiting hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 1-6pm, and Saturdays from 11am-3pm.

Adorable DeLorean is new to the adoption floor!
I'm DeLorean! Look at this face. I'm a cute, sweet, fun-loving guy waiting for his forever home. Sometimes things about me:
- I am a 4-year-old large mixed breed dog.
- I weigh 52 pounds right now but could stand to gain a bit more.
- I love people! I am a friendly wiggly boy who loves pets.
- I know my basic commands, I am smart and I work great for treats.
-I enjoy my walks but can pull a little bit.
-I do not like other animals in my space so would like to be your one and only pet please.
- Due to size and strength they think I’d do best with kids around 8 and up.
I would be the best buddy for hanging out in the backyard or taking on hikes. I can do it all! I am both snuggly and active when my person wants to be.
All dogs at OAHS come spayed/neutered, up-to-date on all vaccines and microchipped.

Atley has a secret to tell: she’s available for adoption! Atley is a very sweet young girl who can’t wait to get the love and attention she deserves! Have you checked out our dog guests recently? Atley says you should! A start here: https://www.oahs.org/available-dogs/
It’s time for and we’d like to share an update on Zara!
“Zara is our beautiful girl and love her so much! When my ptsd hits hard or my anxiety she is right there for a cuddle or to get me up to play to get my mind off it. Been so wonderful and she has opened up so much and so much less shy now.
After a long time of her playing with other doggies and it going well in dog parks and play dates we decided to foster a boy dog. They hit it off and it has now turned into an adoption! Zara has a little brother!
Our family is complete. A girl for mom and a boy for dad. If not for finding our Zara with you it never would have happened. We were going to go without pets till retirement. Now can’t imagine life without either of them.”
Have you adopted from us? We would love to hear from you! Please email [email protected] with any updated stories and photos any time!
Don’t be a KIT-NAPPER. This is a reminder to please leave very young kittens (under 6 weeks old) with their mother unless you are certain there is no mother or the kittens are injured or in imminent danger. Can’t tell how old the kittens are? Here is a handy visual guide: https://www.alleycat.org/resources/kitten-progression/
When people find a litter of kittens, their first instinct is to help them and that means taking them in or taking them to a shelter. Unfortunately, taking kittens away from their mother too young greatly decreases their chances of survival and increases the work for humans to keep them alive.
If you don’t see mom, she may be out hunting and will return to feed and take care of her babies. You can check in periodically from a distance but do not hover over the kittens otherwise mom may get scared and stay away.
If mom cat is not seen at all in 24 hours then please call us for assistance and guidance. 920-424-2128 ext 2 then ext 1.
We also need BOTTLE BABY FOSTERS!
Kittens under two weeks old must be fed approximately every 2- 3 hours, round the clock. As they get older the amount of time between feedings increase but we need more volunteers who can spare time (and sleep) to be able to give these little ones a chance (like these babies who arrived last Friday). If you’d like to know more about volunteering for bottle babies, email [email protected].
