Gray Industries Cruisers
Gray Industries Cruisers works on many vehicle types and years but specializes in 80 and 100 series
SAS swap coming near to the end. 12” travel 2.5 Fox DAC shocks, custom 8.9” rear 60 series axle turned into a front using custom RCV shafts, 80 series outers. axle width widened for the 100 body 3” from a stock 80 series width. ARB, 4.88 Nitro gears.
Any of my KC customers and friend have a set of 5x150 rims? 1-5 looking for rollers to exchange on a a totaled 100 series. As long as they hold air.
Thanks. Need quick in a day or so.
Doggie Daycare was full, we have a stand in shop supervisor today while the 100 that has been patiently waiting gets some attention.
Haven’t been posting much lately, but have been super busy, sorry for any non or late responses this summer, just ping me to remind me of your need. Some giant projects finishing, many just starting, 6.0 GM LQ4 swapped 43 series heading to CO for Solid Axle Summit, you know couple 100 miles into its swap… it’s good for an event.
Just finished a non planned head gasket a week ago on a 3UR 180k 200 series no over heat just missfire issues. And you guessed it, will be in CO this week as well.
Had to make a roof rack for my personal 100 to get the family to CO.
Tis the season for mountain therapy. I’m
Leaving in 2 days, Denver, Buena Vista, Ouray.
Great day at Gray Industries Cruisers, finally had the guts to tackle the hour commute in traffic in the FJ45. The 3fe and H55 really help. Now Jess Mooney and I can baseline it. We installed an OME lift on a unicorn 83 FJ40. The stock rear springs actually broke in 2 pieces when I tossed them in the scrap pile. We knew it needed springs but wow, there is a reason for a military wrap!
Had lunch with Erin, Jess's lovely wife. Came home, grabbed the tan FJ45 to pickup the doggo. Now for a shower beer. I'll be honest, driving a 45 in traffic will not be the norm, the prius parts hauler will not be replaced anytime soon. But any day one can a drive a vintage Cruiser or 2 is a good day.
Hopefully this snow and cold is past us. It’s getting green and it’s time to get outside. April 27th is the annual meeting of the local chapter Tornado Alley Cruisers of the Toyota Land Cruiser Association (TLCA)
There will food socializing and land cruisers new and old.

Upgrading the primary turbo to dial in the boost and performance with the twin turbo 4btt 80 series…
16-14cm turbine housing and wicked wheel to replace old 8 blade hx35. Should make a difference. then wastegate tuning between the turbos. Did big gross changes the first couple 100 miles and haven’t touched it since,
4k on the twins at this point with mixed seasons and 13,000ft passes.
Happy New Year from Gray Industries Cruisers. Sniper installation on this 64 tagged in 65 FJ-45. 2f engine with an old school 1f air cleaner. Come see it when it's driving at the shop this year. Thank you to all our customers and have a great 2024. Come see us with all your Land Cruiser projects.
Jess cleaning knuckles outside in 35 degree weather with the hotsy. He really just wanted an excuse to try the hotsy out. It did make short work of cleaning knuckles off.
Little weekend run with the local Toyota Land Cruiser Association (TLCA) group Tornado Alley Cruisers. Had my 3 kids and one dog with me so I recruited my dad to drive my 100 series and help. Actually having 2 of my cruisers somewhat trail ready at the same time is a rare occurance, hope that becomes a normal.
Beautiful Kansas sunset on our way and dog tired was the theme for the kids as well as the dog at the end.
Always hard to pick the best of 400 pictures on a CO trip. The twin turbo 4bt 80 made it with only minor setbacks and leaks. Best mpg was 21mpg. Love the diesel.
Had to get to the back of my holding pin( side of the shop 2 wide 3 deep). Plus a couple more. Pano was good way to capture it. Lots of customers cruisers to work on but a few of mine and Erik, Twin turbo 4bt 80 in the mix I’m finishing up as a personal project, Erik Christiansen solid axle 100 both hope to make it to Ouray, CO this weekend, Solid Axle Summit here we come
I’ve been consistently busy with customers cruisers which I’m grateful for, but giving my 80 some love in the home garage twin turbo’s are going in, SAS here I come…. Hopefully, 8 days to departure time.
Tornado Alley Cruisers of the Toyota Land Cruiser Association (TLCA) has a gathering at Molle Toyota this weekend July 15th Saturday. Loose times but about 8:30
Another h55 swapped 60 series. Only 130k original miles on this one.
My 1st eval of this 3rd gen 4 runner was a couple patches and could really head off the worst of the rot. Boy was I wrong all said an done I’ll be replacing over 100” of the lower frame section. Had some custom
J channels bent to replace the lower section of rot with 10 gauge. 3rd gen clean body v6 5 speed, Worth saving…
Did a Land Cruiser Grills install on a 413k mile 100 series Land Cruiser lights are great but fit and adjustment wasn’t the best. Wiring wasn’t plug and play. Had to switch the harness around from a polarity stand point to plug it in.
Had quite the week at the shop coming to the completion of a few cool projects.
6L80 Chevy 6 speed added to the white 80 behind the Cummins 6bt Diesel that has been living in it for 7 years.
4.88 Nitro gears and ARB lockers in the silver 100 series, along with Delta panhard drop and my custom interior tire mount and dual ARB compressor mount.
Coming close to wrapping up a fresh engine and front end conversion on the gray 80 series.
Another one followed me home. It’s been sitting for 2 years. Need to get it baselined and then it will replace my black 100.
Sniper EFI added to this daily driven 60 series. A 3D printed adapter. No more vacuum spaghetti under the hood.
What a snow day… started early, then had to head home since daycare and school closed, My wife drove the 100 series into work for a half day 10-3. Then back to it at the shop. Got the rear end out, 4.56 gears set and back in. Tomorrow is front ARB and matching 4.56
If you know…. You know! 1 of 7 before shattering the bit…. Yes Vassel, yes hammered in, yes small impact.
Left handed drill bits for the win always. I don’t know why I don’t start there.
Teaser post….my cruiser is getting some much needed love.
new duratrac 285/75r18 (true 35x11) and some front end work to get ready for the larger tire. Nitro front uppers. Taking a gamble on complete MOOG lower arms. About 3 inches of lift and a lot of hammering to the old pinch weld.
115k beauty getting DT headers. Logistics not pretty for getting them in place, but the result is magnificence
Super clean 1st gen 4runner made it into the lineup. New owner wanted a baseline and fix a few small things. V6 manual.
Need to find pictures of my 1st truck 91 sr5 extra cab v6 4wd. Fun little truck but had to sell for a full size. It didn’t pull the mowing trailer well or safely.
One day of wheeling at Rush Springs Ranch: ATVs, Off Road Park, and Campground. Lots of rain but rocky trails still fun even though I got 2 sidewall punctures. Only 3 plugs used to get me home…. Always a collection of awesome vehicles when your with the Tornado Alley Cruisers groups. Classic 40’s, propane truggies, F-Toy’s, and my stock 100 series(2” lift and 33’s, don’t know why I got 2 sideway punctures.
So the questions is 285/75/18’s, 295/70/18’s or 315/75/16’s. Wheel wells getting cut and clearances. Only .5-1” more lift with Nitro UCA that are on the shelf.
1:30 AM waiting on a customers 80 to be delivered. Customer taking a gamble on a sight unseen clean southern rig with motor issues, for me to sort out.
Getting to see the 80 series first in person... priceless...
One of the first Delta 100 series bumpers to be installed. Looks great, very easy install.
4 generations of cruisers at the shop today, Beautiful…
Loading up some projects for the summer, just finished 5.29’s, a rear ARB in this Tundra and getting ready for Icon stage 3 3” on the lx470.
