🐴Jr. Wranglers Camp 2024🐴

Jr. Wranglers was our last week of summer camp for the year! The campers made fun crafts, learned more about our horses, and got to ride each and every day. At the end of each camp week, the riders showed off their skills at our horse show. All four camps were so much fun, and we can’t wait till next year!

We reached our $3,000 donation match!!! Thanks to Camps For Kids and YOUR generosity, we were able to reach our goal! The donations will go towards funding our camps in the future. We are very grateful for everyone who donated and shared our fundraiser!

HTR has been approved for a $3000 match from Camps For Kids. BUT, we need to raise $3000 to get the full match! The deadline to donate is July 31st, and so far we have raised about half of the full amount. We still need your help to reach our goal!

Last week was our lil’ buckaroo’s camp! The campers made fun crafts, learned more about our horses, and got to ride each and every day. At the end of each camp week, the riders get to show off their skills at our horse show. Next week is our last camp for the summer!

➡️July 2024- Alexis Donohue

Congratulations to Alexis! She started volunteering not too long ago, but has been here almost everyday since. During the past two camps, she has been a BIG help with the horses and kiddos. Fun fact: Alexis has attended our camp in the past! She has a lot of love and knowledge of our herd, and we know they love her too! Thank you, Alexis for everything you do!

➡️June 2024- Kiera Olson

Congratulations to Kiera, our volunteer of the month for June! Kiera started volunteering not too long ago, but has been such a huge help since! During year-round sessions, she is here every Friday helping with hippotherapy. She regularly substitutes and always goes above and beyond the call of duty. Keira has a calm and kind personality, which is one of the many reasons why the little kiddos and staff love her. Thank you Kiera for everything you do and more!

Congratulations to our volunteer of the month, Joyce! Joyce has been here for about two years and we are very grateful for everything she does for us. She is here every Tuesday and Thursday morning leading in lessons. She also volunteers at Tux N’ Boots every year! Although she’s great with all of our horses, her favorite is Rush. We know he loves her just as much as we do. Thank you, Joyce!

2024 Tux N’ Boots was a success! We had a great night of music, food and good company. A BIG thank you to everyone who attended and donated to the fundraiser! We also owe a massive THANK YOU to the volunteers who helped prepare and work the event. We are so grateful to have Tux N’ Boots, and we can’t wait for next year!

➡️April 2024- Karen Clifton

Congrats to our volunteer of the month for April, Karen Clifton! Karen grew up on a farm with horses in Colorado and started volunteering at a local ther**eutic riding program when she was 15 years old. She has been at Heartland since 2017 and we are very grateful for every hour she has spent with us. Karen regularly volunteers throughout Monday nights. She shares her riding experience and horse knowledge with our participants every lesson. She also shares her bright and positive personality. Thank you, Karen, for the many years spent volunteering at Heartland!

🐴Meet the Herd🐴
➡️Jewels- American Quarter Horse

Meet Jewels, or as some like to call her, “Princess Jewels”!👑 Her registered name is Jewels Christy Moon through the American Quarter Horse Association. She will be turning 20 years old on April 13th. Jewels is a sassy but sweet bay mare who came to Heartland at the end of 2017. Because of her calm demeanor, we are able to use her as a canvas during summer camp. The kids love to paint designs before giving her a bath. We also love to use her to teach students how to ride independently for the first time. We 💖 Jewels!

Spring Break starts on Monday, March 11th. There will be NO riding lessons next week except for hippotherapy. We will resume classes again on March 18th. We hope everyone has a fun and safe break!☀️🏖

Let’s congratulate Beth, our volunteer of the month! Beth started volunteering in the fall of 2020 and has been very reliable ever since. She has an energetic, lively personality that everybody loves. Beth encourages the students to work hard and have fun while riding! You will see her Thursday evenings, substituting throughout the week, and helping out in summer camp. We are very grateful for the extra time and effort spent at Heartland. Thank you, Beth!❤️
