This case is one of my favorite types of orthodontic cases – cases where I get to work with a patient's dentist on a slightly more complex plan.

This patient was referred to me unhappy with his bite and small front tooth. He was born with a front tooth much smaller than his other teeth. I straightened his teeth, aligned his bite, and created a little space around his small front tooth. His dentist then used this space to place a veneer that was the ideal shape and size.

Teamwork makes the dream work! I love working with our dental community to improve the self confidence of our patients.

**CELEBRATING DENTAL ASSISTANTS RECOGNITION WEEK**

This week, I’m honored to shine the spotlight on a very special person! Bridget has been with me since the beginning of Lenius Orthodontics. In fact, many people don’t know this, but Bridget and I actually worked together for almost four years in St. Louis. Fate happened to bring both of us to Kansas City!

Bridget is more than an amazing assistant; she is also a dear friend! She wears more hats in the office than I could possibly list. From “pre-office” organizational meetings around my kitchen island, to helping with insurance credentialling, new patient coordination, and countless other areas – she can literally do it all. Lenius Orthodontics wouldn’t be the same without her. I am so grateful and humbled that she agreed to join me on this amazing journey!

This is a PERFECT example of why I LOVE being an orthodontist. This past week, we had a "Game-Changing" type of appointment for one of our patients!

Imagine being a teenager and missing a front tooth...... This patient lost her front tooth due to trauma many years ago. As you can imagine, she was very self-conscious of her smile. Besides being a social concern, the loss of this front tooth also cause her top teeth to shift to her left, causing her bite to change. Orthodontics is needed to re-center her upper midline (so that when she smiles her teeth are lined up with her face). In addition, we needed to "re-gain" space to fit the correct size of tooth in.

After only 4 short months, we were able to re-center her upper teeth and gain enough room for the correct sized tooth. I used composite dental material to create and shape a pontic (or fake) tooth for her. I bonded a bracket/brace to the fake tooth to help camouflage it and place it with her braces.

While the case still has work to do, getting her a tooth and helping to restore her smile confidence was of critical importance to me. Going from "missing a tooth for years" to "leaving your appointment with a tooth" is one of the many reasons I love my job!

I was recently asked by a great dental friend of mine a fantastic question - "As my practice grows, what is the one thing I want people to think about when they hear about Lenius Orthodontics?" Words that immediately came to mind included: fun, relaxing, inviting, caring, family-oriented, modern, technology-driven, etc. How can you pick a single word to describe yourself and your practice to patients, families, and referring doctors?

The longer I thought about this question, the clearer my answer became. Above all, I want Lenius Orthodontics to be known about QUALITY. This starts with having the integrity to give all my professional effort on each and every case - taking the time to sit down with patients and give them my full attention, learning about their concerns and treatment goals, correctly diagnosing each case, educating patients and parents on all available treatment options, and then executing a well-designed plan. I hope I make my stamp in my community and become known for the high quality results and attention to detail.

With this in mind, I wanted to start sharing some of the clinical results that I've been able to achieve. No Google Images or stock photos from the internet - all cases are of actual patients that I've treated. I am forever grateful to my patients who put their trust in me and allowed me to share their smile journeys on social media.

This adult patient presented with concerns of her smile, crossbites, and severe lower crowding. She had a blocked out canine and did not feel confident in her smile. She was looking for a cosmetic option and selected Invisalign because she wanted to be able to remove the aligners to easily brush and floss (oral hygiene was very important to her).

Cases like this make orthodontics such a fun and rewarding profession! This smile was digitally treatment planned and treated with custom aligners in just 16 months.

Kinley has just started the process of getting her new braces. It is exciting and also can be a little uncertain because for most people it's a new experience. Kinley has agreed to let us share her journey so check back often to learn more about orthodontics. Here's a pic of her first day with braces and bands.
