Hip Hip Hooray it’s Friday! 😎

We kicked off extremities palpations and adjustments this week with the hip. We also sprinkled in some important orthos that can help us further identify areas of dysfunction. We love seeing the consistent effort and hard work from everyone! Keep it up! 👏

Hey guys! Just wanted to hop on here and share a few things on my precept experience so far that may provide value to you if you are having questions on how to incorporate everything we preach into a sustainable practice.

During my first 3 weeks here at Focus on Health in Columbia, MO, it has been a fantastic learning experience from integrating what we teach at MPI into a functional/movement based model with a ton of moving parts. MPI president Mark King always talks about having systems in place and getting to see that first hand with Dr. Kippenberger has been nothing short of first class.

The onboarding process for me has been a smooth transition to where you aren’t rushed into patient care but are given ample amount of time to see how the clinic flows, how Dr. Kippenberger moves from patient to patient and how they incorporate palpation/adjusting, rehab and the SFMA/FMS model throughout patient care.

For those considering a functional model and movement based clinic and want to learn more how you can make it work, I’d highly recommend coming to shadow Dr. Kippenberger to see for yourself and if you are looking for a place to internship, consider his precept opportunity once you get to that point. What’s up everyone! Over the past few weeks we have been working our way through the entire cervical spine. It’s important for us to understand the differences in palpating and adjusting upper segments like C1/C2 vs lower segments like the CT junction. Turn out for club has been great and we are continuing to grow! We look forward to moving through the rest of our palpations and adjustments, getting better every day!

We had a great opening week of club. This week we covered the MPI scan and why it’s such a valuable tool to have. We then moved into AP thoracics, showing different ways to reach the same goal. Every week this trimester we will continue to get better and practice our palpation and adjusting skills! See you in room 1045!

Tom is a Tri 3 from Elm Creek, Nebraska. He enjoys rodeoing, hunting, weightlifting, and hanging out with friends and family. Tom studied Ag-Business at Hastings College in Hastings, NE.

Thankfully I had a friend that was later on in the program that showed me the exact people that believe the same things I believe. There is so much more to truly curing a musculoskeletal issue than many think.  The group of people within MPI realize this and strive to become the best palpators and adjustors in the world and more so treating root causes of pain through rehab and functional movement.  I’ve always wanted to be the best at everything I do and this club and the people involved with make that possible.”

Huge thank you to each of these docs for taking their weekend to teach 210 raggedy student docs how to palpate and adjust. They each left us with something new to practice whether it be in the office or in our daily lives. Shoutout to the students for using their weekend to get better at their craft. Hard work does pay off, and you guys are putting in overtime. I’m extremely proud of everyone in that room! Keep up the great work, and let’s continue to get better. See you this week :)
