We have a family in need of a set of bunk beds for two children that have been taken in from a homeless situation.

They are currently sleeping in pack and plays. They desperately need something more permanent and comfortable for the transition.

A few things I’d like to point out that are not mentioned here:

All furniture and appliances are donated from giving individuals in the community.

There is no cost for the items to the individual transitioning out of homelessness.

We are not collecting clothes, shoes, or food.

There will be one central drop off and pick up location for all items.

I feel like most of us have more than we need or want. Its often difficult to get rid of these items. Helping someone rise up in your community is a great way to do it ❤️

We have secured a location for donated household furnishings and appliances. 🙌

These items will be given, at no cost, to anyone moving out, and up out of homelessness from local shelters and programs.

Again, there is no cost for the furnishings.

After much consideration I’ve decided to start a new community non profit ~

‘Moving Up’
and out of homelessness.

It will provide donated household goods and furnishings to women and men coming out of shelters and moving into their own house or apartment.
*no clothes*
Tables, chairs, sofas, beds and bedding, dishes, lamps, etc..

It will help to streamline the process and hopefully make it easier for delivery and pick up, to have one spot.

Donations will be taken to a central location and stored for convenience for when they are needed.

There will be no cost for the furnishings or administrative costs.

To get started I am looking for a storage unit, warehouse, building, etc. to rent at a reasonable price ( naturally )

So if you you are aware of any place sitting empty, please let me know.

We have a woman, and her son, coming out of a local shelter, that just got approved for a two bedroom apt.
Yayyy 🙌

She basically needs everything.
Pots, pans, dishes, lamps, tables, etc.

If you have anything she could use it would be appreciated, really appreciated!

We can pick up, or you can drop at the office of the apartment she’s moving into.

Thank you, again, for always helping out. It really gives people hope, to receive help from their community.

Owensboro Community Free Meal Schedule Many families in our community struggle to make ends meet throughout the year, especially in the winter months. The community meal schedule allows them to worry less. Here is the most updated schedule.

St Benedict’s is looking for a trailer to help pick up donations and move men into housing.
If you know of anyone willing to donate one or sell ( cheap ) it would really help the great work they are doing.

A White Flag event is being held again tonight.

Options for this evening:
• Go to the Daniel Pitino Shelter (501 Walnut St., Owensboro) at 5:30 p.m. to enjoy dinner, and then if bed space is unavailable at local shelters, go to St. Benedict's Homeless Shelter (1001 W. Seventh St., Owensboro) at 7 p.m. for a warm night’s rest.
• Go directly to St. Benedict’s any time after 7 p.m. tonight and before 8 a.m. tomorrow.

Transportation options:
• For those without transportation in rural areas of Daviess County (outside Owensboro city limits), please contact Harry Pedigo (270-315-4419) before 4 p.m. today. GRITS may provide transportation to the Daniel Pitino Shelter, but only during the hours of 5-6 p.m. this evening.
• For those without transportation inside the Owensboro city limits, the Owensboro Transit System has a bus stop near the Daniel Pitino Shelter. Anyone wishing to ride the city bus to the shelter needs to let the driver know and the ride will be provided free of charge. This free ride is only allowed to the Daniel Pitino Shelter for the city buses at 4:35 p.m., 5:20 p.m. and 6:05 p.m. today.
