Rest in Peace - Levengyls Voice in the Wilderness “ PREACHER”

Of all the dogs I’ve known very few have had the passion for the hunt like Preacher. He became a legend with his best friend Brennan Hudson and together they made history.

To be a Waterfowl Guide you need a burn way down deep inside you. To be a true Guides Dog you need that burn as well and in Preacher there was a bond fire.

Few men and even fewer dogs will ever see what Preacher saw….Hundreds of thousands of birds floating across the Canadian and Oklahoma prairies and hundreds of sunrise and sunsets in lost and far away places.

In his lifetime he easily picked up ten thousand plus birds.

He was what most of us dream of in a Duck Dog.
Beautiful and kind and loving, yet fierce to in the heat of battle.

He was born and raised at SLK and from the beginning we knew he was special. But by his third birthday we had met Brennan and from that point on it was a match made in heaven for both of them.

He will be talked about around cabins and camp fires for many years and his sons and daughters continue to carry on his legacy.

Preacher Man ….We will see you in far away sunsets chasing those big ole geese across the sky. Until we meet again.

Due to unforeseen circumstances we have a Black Lab puppy available for consideration.

Both parents of course are fully health tested and extremely nice working dogs as well as family dogs.

Cricket is out of our Henry and Swift. She has a small frame and build at 45-50 pounds and is very fast! She is always sitting on “go!” but is very steady when working in the field. She is quick to learn and does what she needs to do to get the job done.
�In the home she relaxes and settles in with the family. She is the most affectionate dog.
�Cricket is owned and loved by The Barrett family.

We imported Alfie in early 2024. We were immediately smitten with him. He is the full package. We love his demeanor. He has excellent drive in the field and handles beautifully. Alfie is a very happy dog and loves to work. Physically is is very impressive with broad shoulders and is very muscular. He has a wonderful off switch, and we feel fortunate to have him in our breeding lineup.

Sporting Life Kennels is excited to announce a breeding and upcoming litter from Luna and Saint.

As with all of our breedings, we chose to breed these two dogs for very specific reasons.

This should be an outstanding litter as Luna is such a beautifully tempered dog with solid hunting ability and Saint brings his Looks, Speed, and Style to the mix as well as his athleticism.

These pups should be wonderful family dogs that have the speed and drive in the field to get it done while being perfectly quiet in the blind.

SLK will have 5 Started Dogs available in 2024.

These pups have been raised indoors and in a family setting which is extremely important in preparing them for a balanced life.

SLK has Puppy Partners which have raised the puppies up until 6 months of age when they will come back here for formal training.

When ready for their new homes they will be :
1. House trained
2. Well socialized
3.Fully obedience trained: Sit, Heel, Here, Stay, Place, Lay down, Kennel, Close, and Free
4. E-collar conditioned
5. Force Fetched
6. Doing Multiple Retrieves on land and in water.
7. Introduced to Honoring other dogs
8. Steady to shot.
9. Working from Place boards, Dog Stands, Dog Blinds, John boat, A Frame Blinds, and a Pit Dog box.
10. Picking up Live and Dead birds.
11. Doing Long Marks

These pups should display the drive and temperament that SLK is known for. “Calm but Ready” is our motto and these should fit that description nicely.

HOSS UPDATE: 9 weeks | 19 lbs

Hoss has continued to grow over the last 5 weeks and continued on the trend of being double the normal weight of puppies his same age. He is a CHONK, but that just means there is more to love.

Congrats and her pup Asher on his first hunt EVER!

According to Meghan, Asher knocked it out of the park.He Picked up ducks and geese like a pro.

Meghan is with Alberta Waterfowl Outfitters in Alberta, Canada.

Asher completed the Basic Gun-dog Program at SLK in his past Spring and summer.

Meghan is quite the dog handler herself.

She couldn’t be happier with how Asher is performing.

As with all of our breedings, we chose to breed these two dogs for very specific reasons.

Granger is a pocket rocket! At 42lbs she gets it done and gets it done quickly. We love her working attitude, and she is a joy to train.

Waylon is a very fast and stylish working dog. Waylon is big b***d and solid, yet he is smaller than average British male, coming at about 55lbs. Waylon attacks the water and specializes in retrieving big Canada geese.

If you are looking for a small yet rockstar of a working Labrador, this could be the ticket.
