The Mabuhay Collective is a collection of Filipinx creators that are moving the needle to create space for us to be creators in our own right through representation of our culture.

We are a group of Filipinas of mixed ancestry, backgrounds, experiences & ambitions.

Danielle Thomson, owner of created the .sampaguita.skin for this box along with her Sampaguita lip balm.

Sampaguita, which is Tagalog for Jasmine, is the national flower of the Philippines. Not only is it incredibly fragrant & soothing, it’s healing.

Cat Byrne, owner of makes deliciously decadent Vegan & Gluten-Free desserts that is a wonderful balance of our American & Filipino childhood desserts & snacks.

Cat has made deliciously addictive Ube Pretzels. I will guarantee that you love them & if you don’t, your tastebuds are broken.

Camille Wall, owner of & is a branding expert & she knows how to optimize SEOs for your website to drive traffic to your business.

Camille has designed a flawlessly beautiful glass cup & straw with the icon Filipino Sun, sure to get you tons of compliments on your drinks!

I, Phylis Masaya, will include one of my sweatshirt designs. I will have my iconic, “Lumpia is Life” hoodie available, along with some other designs for this collaborative box.

IT IS MAY & OFFICIALLY AAPI MONTH!

I love May b/c it’s Spring & the summer is just around the corner.

There is excitement & anticipation in the air with upcoming graduations, weddings, baby showers, amazing events, pop-up markets, festivals & concerts. It’s also when so many people plan summer trips & vacations.

I LOVE THIS MONTH & THIS TIME OF YEAR!

What I love even more is now we get to celebrate a HUGE community… Asian American & Pacific Islander communities.

I feel, due to so many social changes, we have more awareness around these communities, which is great, but we need to continuously celebrate to get people who are not on board to understand the plight of these communities previously.

As an GEN-Xer, at almost 45 & getting into perimenopause, I did not see representation of myself in media, films, books and TV and now that I’m getting older, I’m loving the fact that I get to see people of similar cultures, faces and things that represent my people not just Filipinos, not just women, but women of color that happened to be part of the Asian and Pacific Islander communities.

I don’t know if the work towards more representation will ever end, but I love the direction that we’re going in and I want to keep going with this whole theme of being prideful of your origins regardless of where you are in America. We are all Americans but we have different roots and we want to celebrate where we came from and I no longer have to be embarrassed about my food or how it smells now Filipino food is trending, so much that anybody who reposts, shares or creates content around Filipino food and culture actually starts to go viral and gets a lot of views.

I don’t want Filipino and Asian culture to just be a trend. I want it to be something that people are aware of and it’s here to stay.

As a Filipino American and as an Asian American woman, I still have a lot to learn about all the other cultures and the foods that encompass AAPI month, so I post this not just in celebration of the culture I’m born into, but other cultures that I also want to be aware of and hold space for and give voice to.

That being said, I have exciting things happening for the month of May!

Hello Ube Lovers of Ventura County!

My name is Phyllis Masaya & I am the owner & creator of Masarap Lumpia, a Filipino Soul Food catering company that specializes in Vegan & Plant-Based Filipino dishes & desserts.

I am also the creator of the Original Vegan Ube Dessert Box. For those that are not familiar with UBE, Ube is a purple yam that comes from the Philippines, and it grows wild, and just about every place. UBE is used in so many Filipino and Asian desserts. It is something that has hit the United States and other places just a little over 10 years ago and it has most recently become popularized by Trader Joe’s. Trader Joe’s sells their version of ice cream jam and I also believe UBE pretzels.

UBE is definitely one of those trends that is here to stay!

3 1/2 years ago I created my first Vegan Ube Dessert Box & I’ve sold HUNDREDS of these dessert boxes since.

For about a year and a half I offered these dessert box once a month and it just got to be a little too much for me to do while also doing catering and pop-up events. I have since taken a break of doing the Ube dessert boxes and I started to offer the individual pastries by the dozen instead.

But I am offering my vegan UBE dessert boxes during special occasions and what better occasion than Valentine’s Day to offer it up again!

I am limiting this special to only 24 boxes this time around.

Hello Lumpia Lovers!!!

My Pancit Lovers Dinner Combo (vegan 🌱options available) was a promotional special I created 3 years ago to help families & busy people get food on the table quickly, during the work week. It was a way to get more business during the week when I got less orders.

I first priced this at $35! It feeds 8-10 people easily. And serves as dinner tonight & left overs for the rest of the week or lunch the following day.

But as prices started to rise, I had to make the decision to raise the price to $45.

The regular price of a 1/2 Trag of Pancit is $45, dollars basically you get the Lumpias for FREE!

An additional dozen Beef Lumpias are only $10 & additional dozen Veggie Lumpias are only $15.

This is much cheaper than if you went to any drive thru for fast food to feed a family of 4-8 people & you will have left overs.

One “value” meal at any chain of fast food will average you $11-13, so this is just more economical, but it takes more forethought.

Delivery is offered (for a fee) on Thursdays & Fridays.

If you live in Ventura or Camarillo, it’s $17. If you live in Oxnard it will cost $12-15.
