Good news for the Pensacola area. Praying for the rest of Florida, especially for everyone in the Tallahassee/Big Bend area. ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ
HURRICANE HELENE UPDATE THU MORNING: Helene now has winds at 90 mph. The intensity forecast has decreased a bit but is still forecast to make landfall between Port Saint Joe and Keaton Beach as a major hurricane with winds at 115 mph. Helene will maintain hurricane strength well into Georgia. The cone is still centered right over Tallahassee where major impacts could be felt. Landfall is expected this evening. Locally for our NWFL counties, we remain the only part of the state not under a tropical storm or hurricane watch/warning. Our impacts are expected to be minimal. What we can expect is high surf and dangerous rip currents. We are also under a Wind advisory. Today will be breezy with winds out of the north 15-25 mph with gusts higher. Some rain will be possible in the afternoon and evening with the fringe of Helene's outer bands.
Good morning,
Today, letโs choose gratitude as our guide. Letโs actively express appreciation for the people and simple joys that surround us. Psalm 9:1 inspires us to acknowledge and celebrate Godโs goodness.
Have a blessed day. ๐๐๐๐ผ
JMCC Update: Due to uncertainty surrounding weather conditions on Thursday, John Melvin Christian College is taking no chances as the state braces for the impact of Hurricane Helene tomorrow. The college has canceled all study hall and strength and conditioning sessions from Thursday and Friday for any students wishing to evacuate voluntarily. The JMCC computer lab, weight room, and training center will remain open during normal business hours for any students staying in town and wishing to use the facilities. Students are still responsible for all coursework that is due this week. The JMCC administrators continue to monitor the storm. The safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our highest priority as we track the storm and the possible impacts on the Florida Panhandle region.
Follow your Mohawks athletic teams on our new website at www.jmu-Mohawks.com or download the Mascot Media app and search John Melvin University in Pace, FL to follow on our new app. Go Mohawks! ๐๐
Update: JMCC administrators are continuing to monitor the storm track. Our area is currently out of the stormโs cone but we will not let our guard down. Students are encouraged to fill up their vehicles with gas tonight just in case of a western shift in the track. As of now we are not planning to close the campus or cancel any activity this week but we will continue to monitor the situation and will follow up with more announcements Wednesday morning. Have a blessed evening. ๐๐๐๐ผ
Congrats to Raelee McDonald for being this weekโs JMCC student of the week. ๐๐
