We are taking applications for the January 2025 PTA class and will set up individual conferences for any interested applicant. Conferences may be held in person or remotely. The application deadline is October 1.

WKCTC Matheson Library will host a presentation for Banned Books Week (Sept. 22-28). Adjunct English instructor Terry Stalions will give an overview of Banned Books Week, from its history to the present, covering the American Library Associationโs role with Banned Books.
The event will be held in the Read Room at the library, which is on the main WKCTC campus, on September 24, from 2-3 p.m. It is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
The next pre-admission conference for the Physical Therapist Assistant program Spring 2025 cohort is today (September 19) at 4 p.m. in the Barbara M. Veazey Health Sciences Building, E105. No preregistration is needed.

During SGA Bingo, the Culinary Arts program and Alpha Epsilon Beta (Justice Club) held a bake sale to benefit WKCTC's "Get Help" program and the Student Emergency Fund.

Attendees grabbed some delicious treats while supporting WKCTC students in need. Funds raised provided resources for those needing assistance with food, gas, mental health, and more!

WKCTC Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) student Trista Shankle has been nominated to the American Physical Therapy Association All-Academic Team for Kentucky. Trista's name was added to the plaque in the PTA lab along with past nominated students.
Her two children Easton and Makenlee came to see "mom's" plaque and get their family photo to remember the moment.

On Thursday, over 150 juniors and seniors from six area high schools explored river-related careers through hands-on activities such as line throwing, bumper building, trying on personal protective equipment, and touring a towboat.
Volunteers from various river-related organizations hosted interactive stations, giving students a chance to meet mariners, captains, and industry professionals.
The event took place across several locations, including WKCTC, WKCTC's Marine Way Training Center, and Ingram Barge Companyโs Paducah facility.

The program promotes careers in the inland marine industry, and itโs been an inspiring and educational experience for students across the nation since 2011.
WKCTC President Anton Reece, Ashley Burns, Director of Community, Workforce & Economic Development, and Andy Wilson, Vice President - Institutional Advancement, are in Washington D.C. this week for the annual Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce DC Fly-In!
Reece, Burns and Wilson join leaders from some 70 business, government and community organizations on the trip to meet with members of Kentuckyโs Congressional Delegation, agency officials, Congressional staff, and legislative experts to discuss important federal policy issues impacting our community and region.
WKCTC has been named the two-year institutional recipient of the 2024 Barefoot and Gardner Award. The award is presented by the Gardner Institute to recognize postsecondary institutions that have taken active steps to successfully mitigate inequitable performance gaps for historically underrepresented student populations.
"We are so pleased to be recognized by the Gardner Institute," said Dr. Anton Reece, president of WKCTC. "This national award reflects the collective work of our outstanding faculty and staff, and their intentional commitment to our culture of student learning and excellence."
