Kare Pelvic Health
Physical therapy clinic dedicated to improving the quality of life surrounding common pelvic health diagnoses.
This includes but is not limited to urinary or f***l incontinence, sexual dysfunction, pre/postnatal care, and pelvic pain.
Let’s talk a little bit more about the three 3️⃣ items that we believe are critical to your pelvic floor therapist search for a pelvic floor therapist ⬇️
✨ Find a pelvic floor therapist that looks beyond your pelvic floor. You’re looking for a pelvic floor therapist to assess your pelvic floor, but as we’ve discussed before, there’s so much more to it. Your body and the way that it functions is truly incredible. We often find that pelvic floor dysfunction could be caused by some other underlying reason. It’s crucial to find a pelvic floor therapist that looks at you and your body in its entirety to assess the situation and address your concerns appropriately.
✨ Look for a pelvic floor therapist that does more than try to address your symptoms with an exercise or some other form of treatment. It’s important to have someone on your team that wants to dig deeper to figure out why exactly the symptoms came about. It’s even more important that you and your pelvic floor therapist have an understanding of how to not only resolve the issues, but potentially prevent them from recurring.
✨ A pelvic floor therapist should be open to hearing more about YOU and not just your concerns. It’s important to find a pelvic floor therapist that makes you feel comfortable and allows you to feel like you are being heard. Pelvic health conditions are often multifactorial and you need to feel like your treatment plan is customized for your situation versus a standard treatment that is prescribed to everyone with the same diagnosis or concerns.
If you’re curious if our team might be the right fit for you, give us a call 📞 We’d love to set up a consultation 🗓 to discuss your needs.

Although there are many things to look for when searching for a pelvic floor therapist, we’d like to highlight three 3️⃣ that our team at KPH believes are critical to your search 💻

The strength and mobility of the spine, ribs, hips and ankles are the most crucial parts of assessing for stress incontinence ➡️ TRUE!
These are the areas that create more support by taking the load off of your pelvic floor 🙌🏼
Poor posture, old ankle and hip injuries, breathing issues, etc. 😮💨 ALL matter when it comes to your pelvic floor health.
Assessing this is going to be a lot more than just a simple manual muscle test. It’s important to find someone that assesses your daily functions as well.
Ready to tackle your leaking? Give us a call 📞 and let’s set up a consultation!

In our last post, we touched on the fact that just because you are experiencing leakage that doesn’t always mean your pelvic floor is weak. Surprising, right? 🤔
Well, many individuals actually have an increase in pelvic floor tension rather than weakness. The weakness actually tends to come from other parts outside of your pelvic floor. If your muscles are too tight, then they are not going to be able to perform their full function. The best way to describe this to you is to have you imagine trying to jump on a trampoline that has no give. You aren’t going to bounce that high, right?

So, you made an appointment 🗓️ to tackle your stress urinary incontinence… What's next?
At your first appointment, you will sit down with your provider and go over your history 📄 in depth. We will discuss things like falls on your tailbone, your stress levels, constipation 💩 and so much more. You just might be surprised at some of the topics that we will cover because you might not think they are relevant!
Then, we will complete a pelvic floor assessment, which is a vital part of figuring out why you are experiencing leakage. The one important thing to note is that just because you are experiencing leakage that doesn’t mean your pelvic floor is weak. This is a topic we will dive into in our next post, so come back for that.
Next, we will evaluate your pelvic floor’s ability to work together with your abdomen. It’s crucial that they work together for full function.
Finally, you will receive an individualized treatment plan that fits with your lifestyle and allows you to still meet your goals 👌🏼 This might include breathing techniques, posture/rib balancing, functional strengthening and mobility work.

➡️ Send this post to a friend that might be hesitant to reach out about their pelvic floor concerns.

We have talked about vulvodynia symptoms and causes, but how can we address the issue? ⬇️
Pelvic floor therapy… I know you’re not shocked by this answer. What is important if you think you may be struggling with vulvodynia is finding a pelvic floor PT who is skilled in evaluating and treating the pelvic floor muscles. This means ALL of the muscles because there are many layers and if the layer on top isn’t assessed, then the cause of this pain may not be identified.
There are treatments that can ease your discomfort and we would love 💜 to help you get to the bottom of it. Give us a call 📞

Here are a few quick tips to try if you have low back pain when you squat ⬇️
1️⃣ Put a wedge under the very edge of your foot on the side that your back hurts. Our feet out 🦶🏼supposed to move in a certain way as you move and go into a squat.
2️⃣ Place a ball 🏀 between your knees and don’t let it fall. This can change how the muscles around the pelvic and low back contract and decrease the stress on your spine.
There are many other reasons why you may have back pain 😩 while squatting so these two tips may or may not be helpful for you. As always, try at your own risk and be sure to consult with your therapist if you’re struggling with this.
Make sure if you experience low back pain you get your pelvic floor assessed because it is often the missing link when resolving low back pain.
