Donation Scams: Don't trust anyone who contacts you out of the blue asking for donations. Research legitimate charities and donate directly through their official websites.

Contractor Scams: Be wary of contractors offering quick repairs or asking for upfront payments. Always verify their licenses, get written contracts, and don't pay in full until the work is completed.

Door-to-Door Scammers: Never let anyone into your home unless you contacted them first. Scammers may pose as contractors or insurance agents, so always ask for ID and don't allow them to roam your home unsupervised.

Suspicious Activity: If you see anything suspicious, such as someone lurking around homes or pretending to be a worker, call 911 immediately.

FEMA/Insurance Scams: Real FEMA agents and insurance adjusters won't charge fees or ask for personal financial information. Verify their credentials before providing any details.

IMPORTANT INFO:

➡️ Some Tampa Bay Beaches are still closed from Milton or the public parking is being used for hurricane assistance.

➡️ The water at the beach appears fine. The mucky brown color from red tide is about 10-20 miles offshore.

➡️ Considerable runoff from Milton has turned the Gulf into a bit of a stew of various algae & bacterium. Sunbathing or beach going is fine. But, be cautious about going in the water if you have an open wound. The chances of a vibrio infection is low, but it’s much higher than normal. That’s enough to keep me & my child out of the water until the unhealthy water disperses.

Visiting the Clearwater Marine Aquarium is one of my favorite things to do here in Florida and this weekend is when the Halloween Spookquarium at Clearwater Marine Aquarium begins! 🎃👻
