Memorial Day is here, and it’s time to fire up those grills, enjoy the sunshine, and make some unforgettable memories with our loved ones. But amidst all the fun and festivities, let’s not forget the real reason for this special day.

Today, we pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our great nation. Their bravery and dedication have allowed us to live in a land of freedom and opportunity, and for that, we are forever grateful.

At Gorilla Netting, we want to express our heartfelt appreciation to all the heroes who have served and continue to serve our country. We know that Memorial Day is about remembering those who gave everything for us, and we will never forget their sacrifices.

To all who have served and to the families of those who have given their lives, we salute you. Your courage and commitment are the reason we can enjoy the freedoms we have today. As we celebrate this Memorial Day, let’s honor their legacy by living with gratitude and compassion.

Dayton R&D company to stand at forefront of next generation autonomous vehicles with new $300,000 project

A growing employee-owned research and development company in Dayton will be the hands holding the region’s first privately owned large outdoor netted drone enclosure. The $300,000 effort will enable the company’s scientists and engineers to design, develop, optimize and test the next generation of autonomous vehicles.

Matrix Research Inc. will soon begin work on a 7,200-square-foot Matrix Research Drone Enclosure at its Dayton headquarters. Bob Hawley, Matrix Research president, expects the $300,000 netted enclosure to be fully operational in early 2024 and create 20 new jobs...

Hawley said Matrix recognized there is no significant outdoor flight test facility for safely developing and testing new integrated sensor packages on multi-rotor drones in the Dayton region. The Matrix Drone Cage Enclosure project will provide the needed outdoor flight test facility for these new sensor payloads, while at the same time safely preventing drones from haphazardly flying away.

Surrounded by netting, the design fully encloses 360,000 cubic feet of airspace above the grass field on the northeast side of the main building. This large volume allows for collaboration on novel RF sensing applications as well as research in all areas of autonomous vehicle research and development.

Gorilla Netting offers what's called a "Breakaway Netting System." Were you ever curious about what it does and how it works? Here's an example.

This breakaway netting system did exactly what it was designed to do and saved the structural integrity of the steel support poles integrated into the system, allowing the ice-loaded netting panels to safely 'breakaway' from their vertical position reducing the ice and wind load of the structure.

A breakaway system mitigates the risk of further damage and downtime and allows the netting panels to be reattached after the storm is over, rather than the downtime of having the netting system inspected and repaired or even completely replaced.

Happy Birthday, Marines! Oorah!

We recently had a custom netting order go out to a customer who received a damaged panel in part of the order. This has only happened twice in our history.

Damage to any of our products received by a customer that is no fault of their own is unacceptable. The typical policy would be handling the issue over the phone and email. However, this was a reasonably large custom order for a very specific project of the customers; we wanted to investigate how the damage got there in the first place.

The customer’s first interaction was with our Office Manager, Analisa. His second interaction was with our VP, Brandon, who was heading out to California the next day for an unrelated trip and noticed the customer was within driving distance. Within 48 hours, we met with the customer, investigated the issue, and worked with him on future design ideas and construction methods for the project he’s working on.

The way this entire process was handled and the kind words from our customer coincide with our mission and vision for Gorilla Netting (https://www.gorillanetting.com/about/). It’s built into our company and those who make it what it is, whether in the field or our office.
